A New Opportunity to Support Land Conservation

On August 9, 2016, the County Commissioners unanimously voted to refer the Open Lands, Rivers and Trails Ballot Initiative to the November 2016 ballot.

For over 20 years, Colorado Headwaters Land Trust has worked to conserve Grand County's open spaces for scenic benefit, agricultural heritage, and wildlife habitat. Along with many other local conservation groups, we do this work without any local source of dedicated funding. This November we have the opportunity to change that.

CHLT supports the Open Lands, Rivers and Trails Ballot Initiative:
  • Keeping water in the Colorado River and its tributaries, such as the Fraser River, available for agriculture, ranching, and outdoor recreation
  • Conserving agricultural lands, natural areas, scenic open lands, wildlife habitat, wetlands, and river access through acquisition
  • Maintaining hiking and biking trails
