West Coast, Best Coast
Every two years, the Vancouver Habonim Dror community gets an amazing opportunity to host West Coast Seminar. This is a seminar where one of our sister camps come down and stay in the Hillel Building on UBC campus. Some madrichim and older chanichim from Machaneh Gilboa, situated in the Los Angeles area, flew in for the weekend to meet or reunite with their Machaneh Miriam friends.
They played a bunch of games together, went on an exciting scavenger hunt, and hung out and talked with one another about each other's experiences at camp. Learning about the similarities between a chanich from Vancouver and a chanich from Los Angeles is amazing, and it was definitely a special and unique experience for all involved. Next year, West Coast Seminar will be somewhere in the area around Machaneh Gilboa. See you back here in two years!

I'm All About That Island Lyfe
On March 8th, Sara Sharpe & Matan Reshef sailed over to the Island to run an event for the Victoria Ken, Island Lyfe. It was held at the local synangogue, Congregation Emanu-El, late Sunday morning. There was tons of fun games played and all the chanichim really bonded together. The chanichim also got to decorate cookies for one another and talked about what kvutza meant to them. Another popular topic was how much they missed Machaneh! Can't wait to see all the chanichim and more at the next ken event!

(Not-So) Little Ken On The Prairie
The Little Ken on the Prairie ran an event in February that was such a fun iron chef style food cooking contest. They all made yummy looking, different sundaes and it was a complete blast. Sounds tasty, wish I was there!

Down under, in the States, Seattle specifically, there are tons of Madrichim and Chanichim having a blast together! They recently had an event last Saturday, which involved a bowling alley and a pool table. Along the way, they also played fun video games and raced each other. All around it was a good time for all, "Everyone was laughing and playing together - it was so fun!" says Lear, one of the Madrichot in Seattle. Can't wait for your next event Seattle!

Costume Bowling Extravaganza
On March 8th there was an amazing all ages Purim bowling event at Grandview Lanes on commercial. Chanichim from every kvutza came in such amazing costumes and had a blast. I'm not sure what the people at Grandview Lanes were thinking, but we definitely surprised them! Even though it was just two hours, the fun the chanichim had will definitely last a life time. It was such a bonding experience between all the madrichim and chanichim from different ages. Also, after the event they had hamantashen and talked in a park nearby. Super fun! |
