News from the Ken
October 2013
Greetings!

Autumn is here and our dedicated chanichim and madrichim are working hard and studying weekly at our FREE Ken Tutoring at the JCC... Nevertheless, school hasn't gotten the best of them, their energy from kayitz 2013 still pumps vigorously through their veins!

We are off to a great start with over 4 ken events planned and ready to go for the month of October and more to come! The ken has never been as vibrant as is this year: it's only the beginning of the year and already there has been a high attendance of chanchim to all are ken events - right on, keep it up! Stay tuned for our next newsletter and thank you for all your support.

Asefa? I Say Forget the Asefa! Let's Have a Picnic...!

Bonim started the year off with the first ken event and a huge turn up of 20! Super excited to see each other, they made a music video for the ken, baked chocolate chip cookies, and despite the pouring rain, insisted on picnicking in the living room! Munching over finger food, together they brainstormed ideas of what they wanted to see in the ken this year such as actively volunteering in the community, going on tiyulim and having peulot at the 61 bayit!

Kvutzat 61 is off to Maryland!

Kvutzat 61 from all over North America has organized its own movement seminar in Maryland and is happy to have Bria (their workshop madricha) join them all the way from Israel! Some members from the Vancouver 61 Bayit will be attending from Oct. 11-14.

Don't worry, they will be back before you know it!

MBI'ers Build a Sukah

Vancouver Mbi'ers have had an incredible summer in Israel and are now enthusiastically participating in the Ken! Together, they built a Sukah at the 61 Bayit and afterwards sat inside and enjoyed laughing and catching up over a cozy cup of hot-chocolate and delicious Belgium waffles.

Let's Have a Reunion

Over 70 chanchim showed up to our annual Camp Reunion on Sunday, September 29th at the JCC. Each Kvutza had time to spend with each other and then everyone played all of our favorite games from machaneh, ate cookies and led a special-edition-afternoon Ken Mifkad. Lots of smiles and laughter was had and it was great to see everyone again! Labelled Lost & Found was displayed on a table and many chanichim found their missing personal belongings. Thank you everyone for coming!

What's Cookin' Ma'apilim?

Every Monday evening, the Mazkirut of the Ken meet up at Yossi's (the COOLEST shaliach ever!). We make dinner together, talk about the Ken, make announcements / updates, bounce ideas off each other and make sure everything is running smoothly in the Eizor. As always, all ma'apilim are welcome to this asefa!
