We Work Beyachad!
On a May weekend, families, Ma'apilim, and camp committee members came up to machaneh on Gabriola Island and volunteered their time to prepare camp for the summer and our annual open house. Together, we built tables, cabinets and shelves; worked in the garden; built planter-boxes; filled holes in the septic field, dug and built new landscaping stairs, uprooted the stubborn Scottish Broom; kept the fire going; cleaned the camp, the bathrooms and the cabins; and prepared camp for the open house. It was incredible to see such a wide variety of people from the machaneh community work hard all the while having fun and getting the opportunity to get to know each other.

Bonim Get a Head Start on Tiyul!
Horray, June has arrived to Vancouver with sunshine! The Bonim didn't give such beautiful weather a second thought and headed to West Vancouver for a hike up to Whyte Lake. We cooled off our feet in the lake, enjoyed trailmix and sandwiches and made friends with the local salamander community. An awesome start to the summer!!

Ma'apilim in Philidelphia!
Vancouver Ma'apilim came together to attend a seminar at Machaneh Galil in Philidelphia. We connected with ma'apilim from other eizorim (kenim across North America) and shared ideas for the upcoming year. This seminar is an shows that it's not just the kids who get programming but madrichim too! It was great to emerge ourselves into the ma'apilim community. We got a chance to learn together, explore different topics of controversy in our lives, brainstorm ideas and enjoy each other's company in a positive and productive environment.

Support Camp Miriam and Make a Difference!
Camp Miriam offers several funds with different purposes.
Here are two if them:
Campership Fund
Camp Miriam has a policy of "no child turned away due to lack of funds". The Campership Fund provides subsidies to many Jewish kids who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend a summer camp that not only strengthens their Jewish identity but also provides a connection to Jewish heritage.
Alisa Bowman Leadership Fund
The fund is in memory of Alisa Levi Bowman, a tribute to her vision of developing Jewish leaders and strong leadership for camp. It provides financial aid to participants in Camp Miriam and Habonim leadership development programs. Supporting the education of Camp Miriam's future leaders is of utmost importance to the future of Camp.
