Pesach_SederPesach Seder Miriam-Style!

Seder 3On Sunday the 24th, the ken had a Passover Seder with mapilim and chanichim! We learned about the holiday, and the meaning behind all the components of the seder. Each part of the seder was accompanied by silly games such "karpas karpas," egg-races and trivia. It was a very exciting event in that we learned a lot about the holiday but also had lots of laughs, asked questions and enjoyed to have each other's company once again! Of course, we couldn't wait for the real holiday to begin so we made matza pizza for lunch and watched The Prince of Eygpt. We had a fun time and ate tons of matzah. Thank you UBC Hillel for hosting our ken event!   Seder 2

Bonim_to_MarsBonim Go to Mars!

The Bonim came over to the Bayit on Saturday March 23rd to have a kvutzah movie-night and together made deep-fried Mars bars (which was planned by a couple of the Bonim themselves!). They had fun hanging out with each other and even had a kvutzah-member make the trek all the way from Abbotsford to attend the ken event.

Maapilim_need_bayitMapilim Need a Bayit!

After having a record number of mapilim return from workshop last may, several of them are looking to start a second bayit in Vancouver this coming September. This new bayit will be used to run ken events, camp committee meetings, as well as provide a home and communal living space for several movement members. If anyone is looking to rent out, or knows of a 6+ bedroom house up for rent next year, please contact Raphy Tischler at 778 668 1410 or raphytischler@gmail.com

Celebrating_SpringSpring is Here, Celebrating Chag Ha Aviv!

On Sunday, March 10th, the Amelim and Nitzanim had a pesach-purim party! Together we baked haman-tashens, made groggers and played our favourite games from Machaneh all with a holiday-themed twist. Dressed up in creative costumes, we had a game of hide-and-seek while also searching for the hidden aficoman! Fun times were shared by all. Thank you Or Shalom for hosting our ken event!

Camp Miriam offers several funds with different purposes.

Here are two if them:

Campership Fund

Camp Miriam has a policy of "no child turned away due to lack of funds".  The Campership Fund provides subsidies to many Jewish kids who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend a summer camp that not only strengthens their Jewish identity but also provides a connection to Jewish heritage.

Alisa Bowman Leadership Fund

The fund is in memory of Alisa Levi Bowman, a tribute to her vision of developing Jewish leaders and strong leadership for camp. It provides financial aid to participants in Camp Miriam and Habonim leadership development programs. Supporting the education of Camp Miriam's future leaders is of utmost importance to the future of Camp.

Free_tutoringFree Tutoring Program with the JCC Library

An initiative between Camp Miriam Maapilim and Isaac Waldman Jewish Public Library at the JCC, the Maapilim are providing free tutoring at the JCC library. And of course, it is also time for engagement and fun with the Maapilim.
