They Didn't Know What to Do with Me
|
|
|

|
by Kaye Kessler

My phone rings and I may not know the person calling, but they're looking for help. In the December 2012 issue of GraceTouch I shared how my husband, Dick, was on a slow but constant downhill with Alzheimer's disease. In February of 2014, God graciously saw fit to once again give him a whole body and mind, taking him home to be with his Savior and Lord.
Now, at least once a week, I interact with others who are family or spouse caregivers of Alzheimer's patients. They are confused, tired, frustrated, not knowing what to do, what decisions to make, and what direction to go. (read more)

Pray for our missionaries on the Navajo Reservation
Bessie and Arnold Betoney have returned home to the Navajo Reservation at Red Lake, Arizona, affectionately termed the "Rez." The Betoneys provide needed Biblical counseling with loving support for the 300,000 people living there. There has been an ever increasing strain between the Navajo and the U.S. government. Back in the 50's children were extracted from their families and sent to boarding schools to be immersed in American culture and language. There is still resentment for what that did to separate families in a community-based culture. Poor living conditions exist as many still live without electricity or running water. Jobs are hard to find on the reservation or in nearby towns so many have to leave their families to find work. Grandparents are often called upon to raise their grandkids. Drug and alcohol addictions add to the troubles of families. Their superstitious religions only intensify Satan's hold on these people, leaving them paralyzed by fear and shame. Arnold believes that this honor/shame culture needs to hear the message that Holy God alone is able to save them from the power of Satan, delivering them from fear and shame. God invites them to become exalted sons and daughters of the Almighty Father God. Arnold and Bessie remain steadfast in their teaching of the Word against the three major forces:
1. The traditional beliefs of animism that use "singers" and "curers" to perform ceremonies at a price.
2. A new age religion called The Native American Church or Peyotism uses drugs to have communion with spirits.
3. A rising interest in Pentecostalism extremes confuses younger believers.
The Betoneys need our prayers so they can continue to stand in the strength of the Lord. The Betoneys want to thank the Women of Grace ladies who have faithfully supported them through these changes. You have been a huge source of encouragement through the difficulties of transition. Encourage them by email or better yet, come mingle with the believers to see God's hand at work there on the "Rez."

 | Men of the Bible: A One-Year Devotional Study of Men in Scripture |
| |

|
Review by Karen Harper
While we often focus on what we can learn from the stories of women in the Bible, we can also learn much from the men in God's Word. Several years ago I read Ann Spangler's Women of the Bible and really enjoyed it. It was informational but was also organized to encourage personal soul-searching and devotions.
Men of the Bible is arranged much the same and also has a powerful impact. Each entry of Old or New Testament men (including the Lord Himself) covers a five-day mini-study in these sections: . (read more)

Do you have a passion to empower women to be who God has called and designed them to be? Do you have a gift for teaching? Have you been blessed by the classes in our Women's Leadership Studies program, and would you like to share that blessing with others? If so, we encourage you to consider joining us in Winona Lake, Indiana, this summer for training to potentially become a facilitator of these amazing classes under the supervision of Dr. Christy Hill. The training will take place the week of June 8-12, with additional coursework due throughout the summer.
We praise God for the growth of this ministry, and ask that you prayerfully consider this opportunity to join us in bringing these powerful classes to more women than we are currently able to teach. Find out more.
