Let It Burn!
|
|
|

|
By Viki Rife

A question has been burning in my mind lately, and only you can help me answer it. Maybe it's because over the last few months I've attended several Focus Retreats, where we've been discussing the identity of the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches. Maybe it's because people keep asking me what my goals are in my new position. Maybe it's just because it's God's timing.
The burning question is: "How do women contribute to the identity of the FGBC?" What is our role? How do we influence? Are we making a difference in this family of churches?
Recently, I set all my responsibilities aside for a day and just took time to listen to God's heart. He led me to the prayer of Solomon at the dedication of the temple, and I sensed Him asking, "What if I came to you like I did to Solomon at the beginning of his reign? What would you ask for?" Standing with the Persecuted
"Prayer is the most necessary action, the greatest gift, the hardest spiritual labor, as well as the simplest cry of a loving heart. Through prayer our world is changed, closed doors are opened, resistant people are made receptive, leaders are put down and raised up, and the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ is extended."
Hebrews 13:3 commands us to "Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves in the body."
At this very moment believers in prison for their faith are crying out to God. Some have been chased out of their homes; others have recently been killed. Do you see in the shadows of a dark damp cell the face of that one imprisoned? Do you feel the grief of the family that just lost their son or brother or dad? Can you feel the despair of others who have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and any normalcy they have known?
For real words to pray for real believers in suffering, use the following verses to lift them up to the Lord who never forgets any of His children:
*Pray that God would give them the right words, fearlessly making Christ known, Ephesians 6:19-20.
*Pray that they will see God's grace as sufficient and God's power perfected in their weakness, II Corinthians 12:9-10.
*Pray that they would love Christ and His appearing all the more, II Timothy 4:5-8.
*Pray for rejoicing in sharing the sufferings of Jesus, Hebrews 10:34.
*Pray that they will endure, trusting in their faithful God, Hebrews 10:36

Why are Moms so Lonely?
by Kate Ward
It is somewhat ironic to think about someone feeling "lonely" when that person also probably feels like they never have a moment to themselves. This week I forwarded a great article on Facebook about how Moms are lonely. I got a lot of "I feel that way too" feedback from my mom friends, so I started thinking about why is this so true.
How did we get to this point where we feel like we are all alone as moms? Well, I can't answer that question for all moms, but I can answer it for myself. Here are five reasons why I think I feel so alone.[ (read more)

A postage stamp, a graphic for GraceTouch, a webpage update. What do these have in common? They are all small things, yet they are vital to the effectiveness of Women of Grace USA.
