GraceTouch

Facilitating global impact

Greetings!

How does reaching out to others and reaching up for God tie together? Several of our sisters have shared in this issue, but we'd love to hear from you. Share what you've learned on our Facebook page.

Reach Out

In the fall of 2009 my husband and I very clearly felt God's call on our heart to leave the church where we had ministered for nearly 19 years to pursue a different calling. We knew this transition would be difficult for us, and for our church family, so we formulated an exit strategy that we thought would facilitate the process and be mutually beneficial. We found out very quickly that this was not to be God's plan. For reasons we still do not understand, the church elders determined that this could no longer be our church family. A few weeks later, they decided they would prefer we sever our relationship with the church family entirely. I remember the night my husband told me--it was a few days before Christmas. I spent the entire Christmas Eve service in tears, knowing it would be my last one with this group of believers with whom we had been in spiritual community for all these years. SMM Birthday Celebration

Happy Birthday SMM!   Daughters of the King Logo

The 100th birthday of SMM will be celebrated at two events this summer. One will be July 18 at Momentum Youth Conference, where a dinner celebration will celebrate the past and cast vision for the future of SMM.

Any woman who has been involved with SMM in any way in the past is welcome to attend the celebration in Marion, IN. Also, if girls from your church are attending Momentum, please make sure they know about this-we're trying hard to get to word out to all girls. Please click here for more information.

As a part of the celebration, we will be honoring girls who are using their lives to serve God. If there is a girl you would like to see participate, have her check this website.

If you would like to contribute to making this a special, memorable event, please click here to see how you can help.

The other celebration will be July 28 during Vision2020 in Atlanta. More details.

PrayerWatch partnership

from Sharon MacMillan

 "Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain for three and a half years. Again he prayed and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops."

Jesus' half brother, James, called the believers to intercessory prayer using Elijah as our example. In the context of James 5, we are told what to pray for:

1. People in trouble;

2. People who are happy-they should praise God;

3. People who are sick.

We are to be involved in the confession of sin and in praying for each other. The climatic statement is in verse 16: "The prayer of a righteous man (or women) is powerful and effective."

Do you believe God wants you to pray as Elijah did? Continue to pray for the work among the nations, for our churches to be filled with earnest intercessors, for your God-ordained mission. Bring the rains, Lord!
