Team Chevy's Tony Kanaan wins his first Indianapolis 500 (and Ilmor's 18th!)!

Perseverance has a name: Tony Kanaan.  The much-admired KV Racing Technology driver has finally driven down Victory Lane at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this past Memorial Day weekend.

Kanaan started the Indianapolis 500 in 12th position and led for 34 of the nail-biting 200-lap race.  He made his critical move on the lap-197 restart to take the lead and took the checkered flag with the race finishing under caution.

"Congratulations to Tony Kanaan and the No. 11 Chevrolet-powered KV Racing Technology team for winning the 2013 Indianapolis 500," said Jim Campbell, U.S. Vice President Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. "Tony drove a great race, and the team executed flawlessly.  Their total focus was on driving to the front of the field.  Tony and the No. 11 team demonstrated tremendous teamwork, perseverance and a never-give-up-attitude all day."

The Ilmor-powered "Microlink Fury" wins the 2013 Grand Prix of the Sea!

The Ilmor-powered American-built Phantom "Microlink Fury", driven by Britain's Vee Ganjavian and Gareth Williams of Team Voom-Voom, won the Grand Prix Of The Sea held in Holland this last weekend.

The UIM sanctioned World Championship only saw one race due to rough seas (several boats were damaged), but the 2012 Cowes Torquay race winners and their pair of Ilmor MV7-10 engines navigated the massive swells to victory.

Voom-Voom's Team "Fury" along with several other Ilmor High Performance powered teams will be competing in the upcoming Venture Offshore Cup Prologue Race in early June. For more information, visit http://www.ventureoffshorecup.com/.

About Ilmor

Ilmor Engineering was founded in 1984 when engineers Mario Illien (IL) and Paul Morgan (MOR) reached out to Roger Penske with a plan to build a better engine for the IndyCar racing series. Since then, legendary drivers like Andretti, Unser, and Castroneves have all driven cars powered by Ilmor engines.  Ilmor now has over 260 IndyCar race wins, 18 Indianapolis 500 victories, 44 Formula 1 wins, and two Formula 1 World Championships.

Since 2003, Ilmor has applied its expertise to the marine industry, creating completely unique engines for high performance powerboats. These engines include the iconic Dodge Viper-based MV10-725, or the new MV8-570, the most powerful emissions-certified small-block gasoline production marine engine today. Ilmor has also expanded its competitive tradition into powerboat racing, winning seven World Championships in Powerboat racing since 2007.

The positive response to Ilmor's products and customer service has resulted in Ilmor becoming a major supplier of powerboat engines and drives to boat makers all over the world, paving the way for product expansion. In 2010, Ilmor launched a series of inboard GM-based V-8 engines, all manufactured in its state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot marine engine assembly and test facility in Mooresville, North Carolina, specifically committed to managing the long term growth of our marine products.

Ilmor still follows the same principles put in place by its founders: innovative solutions, precision engineering and manufacturing, high quality, reliable products, and unrivaled customer support.
