May in Truro ...
This month we pick up 72 minutes of additional daylight, enough to bring temperatures up almost 10 degrees from April.
According to past records, we are told to expect an average temperature to 54°F, with average lows of 46°F and highs of 63°F. We traditionally get a total of 3.6 inches of rain (and no snow!) It's Spring, so with temperatures rising above 50°F plus the rain warming the soil, plant growth starts to accelerate.
Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.
Truro Annual Town Election
The Annual Town Election will be held Tuesday, May 10th, 7a.m.-8p.m. at the Truro Community Center.

Truro Police K9 Update
This week, your newest member of the Police Department, "Ella," assisted LT Craig Danziger with a motor vehicle stop on Shore Road. Upon LT Danziger's approach to the vehicle, both subjects were acting suspiciously. Backup Officers were requested. Additionally, Officer Steve Raneo and his K9 Ella responded from his home in Truro. Within minutes, Ella indicated to Officer Raneo the presence of a narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. As a result of further investigation, 14 grams of Methamphetamine, a class B Narcotic commonly known as "Crystal Meth;" Rohypnol and Gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) a class A Narcotic commonly used in drug-facilitated sexual assaults or "date rapes;" a large assortment of prescription pills packaged for distribution; $880.00 in cash; a digital scale; and other paraphernalia consistent with sales and distribution was seized. The two suspects in the vehicle, both with lengthy criminal records, were placed under arrest. The vehicle used, a 2015 Audi A3, was seized for further disposition, including the possibility of permanent forfeiture/seizure, through assistance of the Barnstable County District Attorney's Office.
