April in Truro ...
This month we pick up 88 minutes of additional daylight, enough to bring temperatures up about 9 degrees from March.
According to past records, we can expect an average temperature to 45°F, with average lows of 37°F and highs of 52°F. We traditionally get an average total of 3 inches of rain and only 1 inch of snow. It's early spring, and the above-freezing temperatures and rain will melt any snow piles and thaw the frozen ground.
Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

Truro Meeting House
At the April Town Meeting, Truro voters will be asked to approve Community Preservation Act funding of $48,500 for the restoration of the Truro Meeting House's rare Paul Revere Bell, cast by Paul Revere's Foundry, in 1828.  This Revere bell has called our community to weddings and funerals, to celebrations of good times and to mourn together in sorrow.  With this appropriation the bell will ring again to mark the 500th anniversary of the Pilgrims' arrival in Provincetown and here at Pilgrim Spring and Corn Hill.  The Meeting House is now a venue for summer community events, as well as for worship.  The Friends of the Truro Meeting House is now firmly established as a 501(c)(3) organization committed to on-going protection of this historic landmark property.

Sustainable CAPE
Happy Spring to one and all! We are back in the schools, growing with children already. Farmers Stephanie Rein and David DeWitt will sow seed peas with over 1200 children from Brewster to Provincetown this spring. The Truro Farmer-in-the-School program is going strong, linking the food raised in eight garden beds to the classroom curriculum, nurses' health and wellness curriculum, and the cafeteria. The children enjoy two local lunches per week, and often they are eating many of the ingredients they've grown themselves. As one second-grader said, "It's fun to go into our garden -- and yummy too!"
Truro K-9 "Ella" Golf Tournament - June 12th
The 2016 Ella Golf Tournament will be played Sunday June 12th at Chequessett Country Club in Wellfleet.  Please save the date in your calendar, and watch for more information coming soon.  In the meantime, tournament team registration forms can be picked up at the Truro Police Department.
