Truro Solar Farm Update
Special Town Meeting in early November unanimously approved moving ahead with the Truro Solar Farm project at the "dump."
In December, the Board of Selectmen approved and signed a contract with SunEdison to be the developer of the 3,000+ panel system.  The project will enter its construction phase as soon as the landfill capping is completed, and the winter weather permits.
Truro Community Solar
The Truro Solar Farm is being built large enough to meet all the electricity needs of the town buildings and streetlights, plus enough added capacity to provide for about 100 to 150 households.  SunEdison has agreed to give priority to qualified households in Truro for a limited period of time, before offering it to other customers. Residential customers will be able to use the solar output of the Truro Solar Farm to offset their Eversource electricity usage. That will end up saving about 10% on the portion of the electric bill that is offset by solar.  To learn more about this program, please click here.

Food Pantry - "Spreading Holiday Cheer"
Thanksgiving is unique among holidays. There are no special gifts, no special outfits, just folks gathering around a table to share a traditional turkey dinner. This year our Food Pantry supplied 56 families with a turkey and "all the fixings" plus a "two day pack" of basics to round-out the holiday weekend. Twelve volunteers pitched in to stock up and then distribute the bounty while spreading plenty of warmth and holiday cheer. Thanks go to volunteers Sally Brotman, Lucie and Debbie Grozier, Linda and Bob Hassett, Marne and Tony Hodgin, Brian and Nancy Trainor, Hank Janowsky and Andy Rahorcsak, and Diane Rose. Gratitude also goes to our generous neighbors who donate to the pantry through the Dexter Keezer Fund in Truro and the Lower Cape Outreach Council (LCOC). Truro can be proud that there are so many people who find ways to pitch in when neighbors can use a helping hand.
Truro Cultural Council
On January 6, 2016, the Truro Cultural Council will be announcing officially the winners of the 2016 Grant Cycle. There was a total of $6,191 to fund and a total of $14,020 requested.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Truro Cultural Council, on behalf of the Truro Community, wishes to thank the Board of Selectmen for its contributions and to Nicole, Noelle, and Trudi at Town Hall for their input and assistance.
