August in Truro ...
August -- starts with summer, ends with a hint of fall. Although we lose an hour of sunlight, our warm surrounding waters keep our average air temperatures almost up to July's. According to past records, we expect an average temperature of 69°F, with average lows of 61°F and highs of 77°F. We traditionally get a total of only 2.8 inches of rain (a bit more than July). Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

Truro Food Pantry
The Truro Food Pantry has launched a pilot project to collect surplus from local farmers. This year our coordinator will communicate with individual farmers who wish to participate. We will develop a timely system for specifying clearly which crops to harvest, where to walk, and any special guidelines. Any farmer can initiate the process throughout the season by sending an e-mail to trurogleaners@gmail.com or call Sally at 508-349-2601. We will get back to you and work out an individual plan that suits your needs. Our pantry clients are always grateful for the food provided. |
