The View from Town Hall Hill
Selectmen Chair Jay Coburn discusses the Board's goals for the coming fiscal year, starting July 1st.  "This year's goals and objectives are again ambitious, yet I believe necessary to confront a number of short-term and long-range challenges that lie before us. We will continue to look at long-term policy issues that address the sustainability of our Town government and what we must do to ensure preservation of the unique character of the Town and its citizens," says Jay.     More...
July in Truro ...
July is the month with the sun still near its highest transit in the sky. Although we passed the longest day on June 21, and the days are now slowly shortening, our surrounding waters continue to soak up the solar energy, bringing us our warmest month of the year.
The warming trend continues with temperatures up 6 degrees from June. According to past records, we expect an average temperature of 70F, with average lows of 62F and highs of 79F. We traditionally get a total of only 1.8 inches of rain (about 33% drier than June).
Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

New Town Administrator Survey
The Truro Board of Selectmen has established a Town Administrator Search Committee to help in recruiting and hiring a new Town Administrator. The brief survey (please click here) asks for the skills and traits that you would like to see in our new Town Administrator. It should take only a few minutes to fill this out, and the information that you provide anonymously will be very valuable in helping to determine the type of person that will be the best match for this important position. Thank you!

  • Working at the school, selling T-shirts and raffle tickets on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Helping with the art auction on Saturday.
  • Before the Truro Treasures Weekend event, we need assistance in distributing brochures to businesses, etc.
If interested, please contact our website www.trurotreasures.org.
Truro Cultural Council
Good news for cultural programs in Massachusetts: The Massachusetts Legislature approved a final budget plan on June 29 that increases annual funding for the arts, humanities, and sciences through the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) by close to $1 million. The Fiscal Year 2015 budget allocates $12 million for MCC. If the Governor signs it, the budget will allow MCC to bolster its existing grants program for nonprofit cultural organizations, local cultural councils such as the Truro Cultural Council, schools and creative youth development, and launch new community music and universal design initiatives. Truro will then get a proportionate share of the increase for programs benefiting Truro.
Don't miss "The Jester of Notre Dame" at the Truro Public Library in July. A free, entertaining and educational performance meant for all. Check at the Library for further details. This program is funded in full by the Truro Cultural Council. Also, don't forget to attend the Concerts on the Green in Truro Center, for which the Truro Cultural Council contributes in part.
