May in Truro ...
This month we pick up 72 minutes of additional daylight, enough to bring temperatures up almost 10 degrees from April.
According to past records, we are told to expect an average temperature to 54F, with average lows of 46F and highs of 63F. We traditionally get a total of 3.6 inches of rain (and no snow!). It's Spring, so with temperatures rising above 50F plus the rain warming the soil, plant growth accelerates.
Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.
Town Election - May 13th

Truro Cultural Council
The Truro Cultural Council is an assembly of local residents who are entrusted to fund local cultural projects via state monies that are allocated to the town. It is a volunteer board that reviews proposed cultural projects by groups, organizations, and individuals for the purpose of enriching Truro's cultural experience for its citizens and visitors.
If you are part of a group or organization or are an individual who has a creative or cultural project that you would like to present to the community, think about applying to the Cultural Council for a grant to help you fund it. Although the grant deadline is not until October, now is the time to begin getting all of your thoughts and ideas together so you will be prepared. Some types of recent projects that have received assistance from the Truro Cultural Council are concerts, writing programs, theater performances, outreach programs, art exhibits that benefit the town, nature programs, projects related to our history, human life issues, horticulture, and a host of other ideas that support community and tourism.
If you would like further information or if you are interested in volunteering to serve on the board of the Truro Cultural Council, please let us know. You may contact Kenneth Hawkey at [email protected] or write to Truro Cultural Council, Truro Town Hall, PO. Box 2030, Truro, MA 02666-2030. You may also visit www.mass-culture.org for additional information.
