February in Truro ...
     This month we pick up over an hour of additional daylight, but with temperatures just about the same as January.  That's not enough sun to overcome the cold bay and ocean waters and the frozen ground.
     Expect an average temperature to 31�F, with average lows of 22�F and highs of 36�F. We get an average total of 4 inches of rain and 10 inches of snow.  As long as the snow comes in small enough doses so it doesn't have to be shoveled we'll all be happier come March.

A heartfelt "Thank You" to the Citizens of Truro who supported the Police Department during the Special Town Meeting on January 15th, 2014. Together, we have been able to replenish our fleet of police cruisers and to purchase vehicles that help to ensure our ability to serve all of you.

Motor Vehicle Excise Bills
2014 Motor Vehicle Excise bills will be mailed soon! All bills must be paid within 30 days of the mailing date. You may be due an abatement (reduction) of the Excise if your vehicle was sold, traded in, junked, totaled, repossessed, stolen, or returned under the Lemon Law, or if you moved out of town or out of state before Jan 1, 2013. However, filing for an abatement does not stay the collection of the excise. Please read the back of your bill for more information. Property Tax Assistance for Elderly or Disabled
Assistance in the form of grants may be available to help you pay your Property Taxes if you are elderly or disabled. The town of Truro has a fund that is available to elderly and disabled residents to receive property tax assistance. The applicant must meet certain guidelines.   More...
Housing Rehab Program
The town was awarded the Federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) CDBG grant from the state. Truro has received $680,907 for loans that are up to $35,000. Typical rehab projects include code violations, energy efficient upgrades, electrical, heating and hot water, windows and doors, roofs and siding.   More...
