    This month we pick up 72 minutes of additional daylight, enough to bring temperatures up almost 10 degrees from April.

    According to past records, we are told to expect an average temperature to 54�F, with average lows of 46�F and highs of 63�F.  We traditionally get a total of 3.6 inches of rain (and no snow!). It's spring, and the temperatures rising above 50�F plus the rain warm the soil, and plant growth accelerates.

    Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

Highland Links Golf Course
As we move into May, warmer temperatures are turning Highland Links an emerald green. The grass is really starting to pop, and the fairways and greens are in super shape. More...
Highland Lighthouse - 9th Annual Road Race
Highland Light will open for the season on Saturday, May 18th. The 9th Annual Ocean to the Bay 5-Mile Road Race will take place on Saturday, May 25th, at 9:00 a.m. Online registration is available at runreg.com or print a registration form at capecodlight.org.
Council on Aging

Come join us on Weds., May 22nd at 6:30 pm and Sing with Vim, Vip and Vigor with Mary Abt and her singing class. Refreshments will be served. On Tues., May 14th we will offer our Annual Health Fair from 8 a.m. -11:30 a.m.  Have your cholesterol, glucose, and bone density screened. Free giveaways and valuable information is available as well.

Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill
This May we continue to have new Culinary and Gardening classes with the Fruit of the Flats on May 8th, Drawing and Painting with Chocolate on May 9th, planting an organic garden course with Chris Murphy on May 16th followed by a Wine and Cheese Pairing that night with Chef Adrian Cyr. Walking Home to benefit HOW
Seamen's Bank is organizing a fundraising walk on Saturday, May 11 to benefit Helping Our Women (HOW). HOW is a community-based, non-profit organization serving Eastham to Provincetown. HOW's mission is to educate, empower and support women as they cope with chronic disease and life threatening illnesses.  More...

This year is the 2nd annual golf tournament and dinner: "Tee Off for TCS", to be held Sunday, June 2nd, with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at Highland Links Golf Course.

The Truro Group

Since 2006, The Truro Group has provided Truro artists with opportunities to show their work. The group has grown to more than sixty artists who work in oils, pastels, watercolor, clay, wood, glass, photography, jewelry, and found objects. The Group holds two shows each year. The first opening will be on Sunday, June 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Truro Public Library and will run for the month of June. Pat Canavari and Cathy Skowron will be doing a white-line demonstration during the opening.

Truro Historical Society
On June 1st the Museum will open with Truro - Then and Now, a month-long pictorial tribute to Truro. In July and August we will present a series of events to commemorate Josephine and Edward Hopper's "working vacations" in South Truro from 1930 to 1966.     More...
Benefit for the Friends of the Truro Library
Post Office Gallery, 38 Shore Road in North Truro Village is pleased to announce that it will host a Silent Art Auction to benefit of the Friends of the Truro Library (FOTL).
    Local and affiliated artists' work will be available for viewing and for placing bids beginning Sunday May 26, at an Opening Reception at the gallery from 2 - 4 p.m.. The starting price for each piece will be the artists' Reserve, or minimum price. All proceeds above the Reserve will benefit FOTL and the Truro Library.  The final bidding and sale will be held at the Closing Reception on Saturday, June 15 beginning at 2 p.m..
