Ag Survey - Last Call - Please Participate
The Truro Agricultural Commission has developed a survey to assess the present status of agricultural activity and interests throughout Truro.
   Whether you plant just a few flowers every so often, or till your fields with a tractor, or simply enjoy clamming, please take a minute to complete the survey if you haven't do so already.  Click Here for Survey 
ThisMonthThis month in Truro ...  

     This month we pick up 78 minutes of additional daylight, enough to bring temperatures up about 5 degrees from February.  It's still winter, but just enough rise to slowly start to thaw the frozen ground.

     The longer day and the sun's higher arc in the sky are enough to generate 10% more power from our solar panels. 
     According to past records, we are told to expect an average temperature to 36°F, with average lows of 29°F and highs of 44°F.  We traditionally get an average total of 3 inches of rain and 8 inches of snow.  If the snow doesn't come in one big storm, and we can get through this month, we should have clear sailing into spring. 

     Below are some of the activities and events happening about town this month.

Council on Aging

    On Monday, March 11th from 10am-11am, Kathy Stetson, Physical Therapist and exercise instructor will discuss the latest news on exercise and bone health at the COA.

    The Truro Rescue Squad will be returning to the COA! Members of the Squad will be administering a free Blood Pressure Clinic beginning on March 4th at 10:00 am.

    Please sign up for Heather Bailey's Cooking Classes which begin on Weds. March 6th at 10:00 am and continue for the next three Wednesdays.

Castle Hill Center for the Arts
This year we have many courses never before offered at the Truro Center for the Arts campus. We have expanded our curriculum to include Culinary and Gardening classes beginning this March. Our workshops range from learning about painting a fresco to planting an organic garden to making a pizza oven and how to keep "Chickens 101". As we step into our 42nd year, we are offering over 145 workshops and events for you to choose from, 36 new faculty and delighted to bring back treasured faculty from past years. www.castlehill.org

Recycling and Spring Cleaning
Getting ready to do some Spring cleaning? About to throw out some of those old clothes you no longer wear? The Truro Recycling Committee wants you to know there are many clothing and textile products that can be recycled, even if they are not in great condition. Clothes that are torn, stained, missing buttons, or have broken zippers are all acceptable. Also acceptable are items such as stuffed animals, belts, ties, and holey socks. All items that are NOT wet, oily, or smelly can be recycled in any condition. The Salvation Army or Red Cross bins will accept textiles. These organization will be able to sell less-than-perfect items to companies that recycle, thus providing income to these charities. Public Hearing on Recycling, Swap Shop, and Transfer Station Rules
The Truro Board of Health will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 4:30PM at the Truro Town Hall, 24 Town Hall Road to amend the following Truro Board of Health Regulation Section IV, Solid Waste and Section V, Transfer Station Rules and Regulations. Copies of the proposed amendments can be obtained at the Town's website www.truro-ma.gov, the Administrative Office or at the Building/Health/Conservation Department, located in the lower level of Town Hall, 24 Town Hall Road.
