Ag Survey

ThisMonthThis month in Truro ...  

     This month we pick up over an hour of additional daylight, but with temperatures just about the same as January.  That's not enough sun to overcome the cold bay and ocean waters and the frozen ground.
     Expect an average temperature to 31°F, with average lows of 22°F and highs of 36°F.  We get an average total of 4 inches of rain and 10 inches of snow.  As long as the snow comes in small enough doses so it doesn't have to be shoveled we'll all be happier come March.

Welcome Winter! January brought the New Year and an arctic blast to Truro. The cold temperatures haven't slowed us down! Take a look at Bedtime Stories in the Book Nook and the Winter Concert as well as a preview of the 5th and 6th-Grade's upcoming Zumba Fundraiser.      More...
Highland Light
    Though the January winds howled around the Highland Light, 50 members of the New England Lighthouse Lovers (NELL) visited the light on January 19th. Our guests were treated to hot chocolate and homemade snacks while they enjoyed the view from the top of the light.
    The lighthouse will open for the season on Saturday May 18, 2013. We're looking forward to another great season.
    The 9th Annual Ocean to the Bay 5 mile run/walk will take place on Saturday May 25th, 2013. Our new race director is Geoff Newton. He can be contacted at Ocean2Bay5M@gmail.com.
Commission on Disabilities
The Truro Commission on Disabilities has had a busy and productive year. We have worked with the Truro Beach Commission to develop a plan to improve the accessibility of our town beaches.  We have also been in negotiations with the Postal Service to improve the accessibility of the North Truro Post Office.      More...

Assessor's Notice to Business Owners
The Board of Assessors is requesting INCOME AND EXPENSE information on COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL MIXED USE AND APARTMENTS (residential) properties to help us determine equitable values for assessment purposes. This request is for income and expense information relative to the operation of REAL ESTATE and not the business use with the real estate. The forms will be mailed February 1, 2013 and are due back to the Assessors Office within 60 days. In accordance with State Law, all information listed on the forms is NOT available to the public for inspection. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the assessors office 508 349-7004 Extention 16.
