From time to time we can expect outbreaks of other diseases throughout the world.　 Some of these will potentially impact the treatment of IVF patients, such as the Ebola outbreak in 2014. While the U.S. recorded a minimal number of Ebola cases in 2014 and 2015, the fact remains that there is a risk of transmission through semen, and therefore proper screening of specimens determined to be at risk is important.　 While the FDA has not issued guidance on Ebola Virus as it pertains to donor tissue, the AATB has revised its standards to address Ebola Virus transmission.
