Our new web and mobile sites are live!  We are excited about the new sites, which now include a Get Started page.  The Get Started page is found on our Home page, and here you will find information on Requirements, our Fee Schedule, Financial Assistance and Links. 

Oncology Professionals page offers you resources, such as our Fertility Preservation 101 booklet, our Fertility Preservation Network and information on our App.  

The sites still contain our Find a Freezing Center pages, where patients can find a clinic that provides Fertility Preservation services clinic by searching in their local areas.

ASCO updates Fertility Preservation Guidelines

Although no major revisions occurred, clarifications were added to update the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) guidelines on fertility preservation for children and adults with cancer. 

In summary, the clarifications state that health care providers should discuss the possibility of infertility with adults of reproductive age, or the parents or guardians of children and adolescents, and address fertility preservation as early as possible, before treatment for cancer. Cancer patients should be referred to reproductive specialists for fertility preservation. Cryopreservation of oocytes, sperm, and embryos is considered standard practice.

AMA Adopts Fertility Preservation as a Policy 

Last month, the American Medical Association (AMA) voted to support insurance coverage for fertility preservation for cancer patients and began its campaign on this issue.  Thanks to the AMA, for recognizing this important issue.

Do you know about RTL's OverNite Male Kit?  The kit enables men who cannot travel to a fertility clinic, due to illness or location, to collect semen specimen(s) at home or from the hospital.  The specimens are shipped via FedEx to our processing lab at the University of IL - Chicago.  The frozen specimens are then shipped to RTL for long-term storage.
