Thank you, Oncology Nurses
May is Oncology Nursing Month, and ReproTech would like to thank all of the amazing oncology nurses who work so hard to care for cancer patients and to help their families cope with their loved ones' diagnoses.
As are so many people in this world, the lives of many RTL staff have been touched by cancer recently and over the years. All of us at RTL appreciate the efforts and compassion that oncology nurses have shown us through the difficult times, and many special nurses will always be remembered in our hearts.
We also thank you for the education and referrals you provide for your patients who require Fertility Preservation services. While the field of Oncofertility is definitely progressing within the U.S., we still have a way to go to educate all members of healthcare teams so that all patients are educated about Fertility Preservation.
Thank you for doing your part to help in this effort.
Why You Can Never Thank an Oncology Nurse Enough

Little Girls with Huge Hearts
| | |
RTL is so proud of Kirsty, daughter of RTL-NV's Site Director, Danika, and t he Northern NV Lady Aces softball team for their season long campaign to CRUSH IT FOR CANCER. The 12 and under fast pitch team consists of girls from the Reno/Sparks area and will play in 10 tournaments throughout NV and CA through summer. Each time team players bat, they donate to the Northern NV Children's Cancer Foundation donation jar. Other tournament players and supporters have gotten into the spirit and donations continue to be in full swing!
The team is coached by Danika's husband, Troy, who encourages the girls to give back to the community that supports them and enables them to play. The team partnered with NNCCF over the holidays to give gifts to the patients and their families, they recently spent a Saturday afternoon feeding the homeless is downtown Reno, and are currently doing the CRUSH IT campaign. Fertility Preservation Presentations at American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) Meeting
RTL staff attended the Spring Meeting of the The American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) last month in Tucson. This meeting was especially exciting this year, as it had several presentations focusing on Fertility Preservation. This was the first year that AATB invited speakers to present on a topic in the reproductive medicine field.
Kyle Orwig, PhD and Hanna Valli presented on their team's research being done on preserving testicular tissue in prepubertal boys at the
University of Pittsburgh's Fertility Preservation Program.
Leah Kroon, RN, of Seattle Childrens' Hospital's Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program, presented on Fertility Preservation and its Options, Challenges and Strategies.
Thanks to these speakers for their terrific presentations. It was truly gratifying to see the turnout they received for their presentations in the field of Fertility Preservation.
For more information on UPMC's Fertility Preservation Program or Seattle Childrens' Hospital's AYA Cancer Program, please contact Joy.
