Fertility Preservation Program of Pittsburgh

offers Testicular Tissue Cryopreservation

to Prepubertal Patients

The Fertility Preservation Program of Pittsburgh, in coordination

with the Center for Fertility & Reproductive Endocrinology at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, provides ovarian and testicular tissue cryopreservation, as well as semen, embryo and oocyte cryopreservation.

Testicular tissue cryopreservation (TTC) for prepubertal boys, offered under an IRB protocol at the Center, is the only fertility preservation option available for prepubertal boys with cancer. The program is led by Kyle Orwig, PhD, and is one of the few centers in the U.S. to offer this service.

Dr. Orwig is interested in collaborating with fertility centers to extend the availability of TTC throughout the U.S. using Pittsburgh's protocols.  Please take the opportunity to discuss collaboration with Dr. Orwig at the AATB Spring meeting, or contact Joy, RTL's Fertility Preservation Network director, to schedule a call with him.

The Pittsburgh Program/Center is a member of the Oncofertility Consortium, and has established its own dedicated pMWRIFhone line

(412) 641-7475 for patients and physicians to call for information on fertility preservation information and options.
