MBCN 2015 Research Leadership Awards
MBCN is proud to announce that it is able to financially support the scientific work of two outstanding scientists who tackle tough questions important to metastatic patients. Each individual will receive an award of $50,000 to continue their work.
Dr. Andrew Ewald, associate professor in the Departments of Cell Biology and Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine works to describe and understand the invasion and spread of cancer cells to other parts of the body. The spread of metastasis is not yet fully known.
Dr. Matthew Ellis, the director of the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine has been focused for over a decade on understanding mechanisms of treatment resistance and using this information to find new treatments to extend the lives of patients in the clinic. He is a pioneer in the application of breast cancer genomics, identifying mutations and their clinical relevance.
In 2014, MBCN made a commitment that all contributions made to MBCN in honor of someone living with metastatic breast cancer or in memory of someone who has died would go to support research to help patients. These awards are the result of everyone's commitment to change the course of our disease.
I encourage you to read the entire press release about these two dedicated individuals HERE.
Wishing you well every day,
Shirley

There were 2 topics: Disease Symptoms and Daily Impacts; and Patient Perspectives on Current Treatments with a total of 7 questions to be answered.
