You may be concerned about our cold temperatures this weekend as it relates to your irrigation.
Saturday morning we will be in the mid 30's and there has been some concern about irrigation systems still being operational. Right now the ground temperature is 65 degrees. If we get into the mid-30's, there is enough radiant heat from the ground that there will not be any freezing issues occurring, even if your system happens to run on Saturday morning.
It is still too early to shut the irrigation systems down completely. There are fescue areas that have been recently seeded and the installation of Fall Seasonal Color is ongoing. If you look into the forecast for next week, you'll see that we will be in the 70's during the afternoons and 40's at night with no rain in the forecast. It is very important that these systems remain operational to ensure good fescue development and the establishment of your seasonal color until mid-November and less severe freezing temperatures are on the horizon.
