What you can do:

It's not too early to start thinking about your fall pre-emergent on your warm season grasses. August and September are ideal months to get your first application down to eliminate poa annua (annual blue grass) and other winter weeds.

If you have fescue turf you know how bad it struggled this summer. August is a great time to go out and clean up any unwanted weeds and prepare for the aeration and over seeding coming up in September.

Start thinking about tree and shrub planting plans for the fall.  September through November is an ideal time to get your installation projects complete.

You could be running out of time.

If you are thinking about installing a zoysia lawn, keep in mind that it's best to have it installed by September 30. It does not do well if you install it after that date as it doesn't establish a good root system over the winter. You can still install Bermuda sod year around.

What is Unique doing? Along with our general maintenance on your property (mowing, edging, pruning), we are preparing fescue turfs for aeration in September and putting down the first round of fall pre-emergent on your warm season turf.  We are adjusting irrigation run times in association with the time of year and with the additional rainfall in some of our customer areas.  Selective horticultural pruning on roses and hydrangeas is also being done.
