Final Exam Tips
Finals are coming up and we wish you the best of luck! To help you get through them, we compiled a list of tips that, if followed, should serve to make finals as manageable as possible.
  • Find out when your finals are. - This information is readily available from your instructors or your class syllabi. You can also find out when they are by looking at UAF's Fall 2013 final exam schedule.

  • Relax - Hard to do, I know. But, research suggests that stress blocks chemical reactions in your brain that aid in learning. So, start studying early and be sure to set aside enough time for sleeping, eating, and exercising.

  • Take care of your health.

  • Eat apples and drink water to stay alert. If you're cramming, mix cocoa and coffee to stay awake.

  • Don't Cram - Studying the night before your exam leads to lack of sleep, high stress, and short tempers. Giving yourself enough time to confidently work through your course materials will benefit you far more than rushing through them.

  • Don't study for long periods of time. - Taking breaks helps your memory retain the information.

  • Treat every day as if you had an exam tomorrow.
Holiday Celebration
On December 6th at 5:00pm, we will have our last positive connection night of the semester. Be sure to stop by RSS for good food, crafts, cookie decorating, and Eskimo Bingo!

If you don't know how to play Eskimo Bingo, the rules are simple and it's easy to win! All you need to do is sit in a circle with your peers and take turns rolling a pair of dice. If you get a double, you get a gift!

Thank you to the Alaska Native Education Student Association for helping us put this on!
AISES Chapter Advisor of the Year
Rural Student Services Advisor Olga Skinner was awarded the American Indian Science and Engineering Advisor of the Year award at the National AISES conference in Denver, Colorado.

This distinguished award goes to an advisor who demonstrates hard work, dedication, and strong leadership. Recipients are nominated by the students that they serve.

Ordering Transcripts
Final grades will be posted by your instructors on December 24th. If you need to get an official transcript for any reason, be sure to order it on UAOnline after this date so it will show this semester's grades.

Please note that if you request an electronic copy to be delivered via e-mail, have it sent to yourself so you can forward it to up to seven different people/organizations without being charged extra. It takes little effort and could save you up to $72.00!

Financial Help
The Financial Aid Office is great when you need help with scholarships, grants and loans, but that's not all they do! This semester, they have a wide array of workshops designed to help you efficiently manage your money. If you want to be smart with your money, attend the Financial $ense sessions! This is a listing for December, look for the next Reach Out to see their later workshops or check their website.
