Ready or Not
We're entering our last full month of this semester, and it's bound to be a busy one as you finish up your coursework, prepare for finals, and eat mass amounts of turkey, gravy, stuffing and, of course, pie. On top of all that, you also get to start thinking about next semester!

On Monday, October 28, the Spring 2014 course list was made available. There are about two weeks between the arrival of the course list and the start of registration. Use this time to meet with your advisor to discuss the courses you are interested in taking next semester. Preparation is the key to beating the registration rush and getting into your classes early will ensure that you do not end up on the wait list. Registration opens up on November 11 for degree-seeking students and November 18 for non-degree-seeking students.

You should also be filling out scholarship applications in your free time. Having too much money makes life at UAF a lot easier than having too little, so be financially prepared for next semester! Your advisor is a great resource for financial aid.
Positive Connection Nights
We have two PCN's to look forward to in November! The first
Halloween PCN 2012
L to R: Eric Hamar as Da-ka-xeen Mehner, Gerald Patsy as a Jester, and Marjorie Tahbone as the Inuit Goddess Sedna
will be on November 1st and is a late Halloween celebration. Get more use out of your costume by dressing up and entering the costume contest! The winner will get two movie tickets. There will also be other prizes that will go to the winners of some fun games like the orange game and Halloween Jeopardy!

The second PCN will take place on November 15th and will be hosted by Natives For Positive Change in celebration of Native American Heritage Month. We will be watching Smoke Signals and eating frybread! Our frybread may not be as good as Victor's Mom's, but we'll give her a run for her money.
AVCP Visit
Association of Village Council Presidents will be here on Monday, November 4th to visit with their students. If you are a student who is funded by AVCP, be sure to call us or stop by to schedule a time to meet with them.

On that note, the last day to renew the AVCP scholarship is November 30th!
AISES National Conference
Four members of the UAF chapter of AISES will attend
2012 AISES National Conference
L to R: Olga Skinner, Lonny Strunk, Stefan Weingarth, Ruth Osborne, Brian Rasley, Charlie Carlson, Rachel DeWilde, Jesstin Patterson, Thomas Hughes, MJ Roseberry
the National AISES Conference in Denver, Colorado. There, they will take part in science and engineering workshops, have interviews for internships, scholarships, and graduate schools, and will network with many different science and engineering companies, including the US Navy, 3M, Microsoft, and Google.

If you would like a chance to participate in future AISES National Conferences, contact Olga Skinner or one of the members and ask about becoming an AISES member.

Financial Help

This semester, they have a wide array of workshops designed to help you efficiently manage your money. If you want to be smart with your money, attend one or all of the following sessions! This is a listing for November, look for the next Reach Out to see their later workshops or check their website.
