Community Meeting: PARCC Assessments:

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will host a community meeting on assessments that have been developed by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, better known as PARCC. The math and English language arts assessments, which are being field-tested in some Massachusetts schools this sprint, could eventually replace MCAS test in those subject areas. The meeting will provide an opportunity for educators and parents to ask questions and get additional information. We encourage you and your family members to attend these community meetings with DESE in order to offer your valuable insights about PARCC assessments as the field-testing rolls out.

Athletic News:

Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Diver adds to accolades:
CRLS Junior Gabe Bamforth took home top honors in the MIAA Boys State
Championship a little more than a week ago.   Not only did Gabe earn the State Diving Title, but he did it running away, besting the 2nd place finisher by 67 points in the Final Round!  This week Gabe will be able to add to his trophy case as he has been named a 2013-2014 Boston Globe All Scholastic.   This is a fantastic honor.  Gabe is a tremendous student, exceptional diver and a fine young man.  He is a great representative of the CRLS Swim and Dive Team, the Athletic Department, School and Cambridge Community.

Boys Basketball Team Advances to Division I North Section Quarter Finals:
The Boys Basketball Team beat Waltham 67-46 on Tuesday to advance to the
North Section Quarter Final.  The boys team plays Central Catholic on Friday, February 28th at 7PM at Central Catholic in Lawrence.  This match-up comes almost two weeks after CRLS played Central Catholic in their own Round-ball Championship Classic, in which Central beat the Falcons 66-57, a game which was tied with under a minute to play.  CRLS looks forward to the opportunity to the rematch on Friday Night.  Admission for the game will be $7 for Adults and $5 for Students and Seniors.

Girls Basketball loses in First Round Game:
The members of the Girls Basketball Team put a very good fight last night in their First Round Tournament loss to Masconomet.  Qualifying for the tournament with a second place finish in the GBL, the Lady Falcons led most of the first half against the 19-1 and # 3 seeded Lady Chieftains.  Despite hard play by CRLS throughout, Masconomet pulled away in the second half, claiming the victory and advancing to the next round.  The effort from the Girls Basketball Program was very good and they fine representative of CRLS.
