Winter 2014 Session of Drivers Education:

Registration will be held Wednesday January 22nd, 2014 at 2:30 PM in the main cafeteria of the high school

Choice of two classroom sessions - 2:35 PM or 6:00 PM
Class begins Monday January 27th, 2014
Sessions are 5 weeks in duration (a total of 10 classes must be attended)
Two absences are allowed but must be made up prior to last class
Classes meet twice a week - Monday and Wednesday
A state mandated 2 hour class must be attended by a parent or guardian for any students under the age of 18 (date to be determined)
Classes are held in the Gustave Solomons Garage located at 456 Broadway (across the street from CRLS)
Cost is $600.00 which covers the ten classroom sessions, the parent class as well as the required 12 lessons of behind the wheel instruction.
This price does not cover any fees charged by the Registry of Motor Vehicles for the permit, road test or license.

RSTA Health Careers Students Fight Big Tobacco and join the 84 Movement:

 

The tobacco industry targets youth. Over 90% of adult smokers started before they were 18. The tobacco industry knows if they can get a teen to smoke they have a life time customer and spend over 12 billion a year in advertising.

Cambridge MLK Day of Service
Monday, January 20, 2014
2 to 5 p.m. Central Square, Cambridge

Great for volunteers of all ages!  Everyone is welcome!
Children are very welcome (but with an adult, please)!

Join hundreds of other volunteers in hands-on service projects that will touch the lives of thousands of people in need in Cambridge. You can come for the whole afternoon or for just an hour.  You can work on any or all projects -- choose when you get there.Sew fleece scarves and blankets for homeless children, teens, and adults. Make Valentines for shut-in elders and veterans.
Create activity kits for children waiting in hospital emergency rooms.
Design bookmarks for children and adults in literacy programs.
Sort donated food, children's books, toiletries, and winter clothing.

Don't come empty handed:  If you can, please bring a can of food, some gently used winter clothing, or a gently used children's book to be given to someone in need. Reach out a hand and bring along a friend!

Buy the 2014 Yearbook:
There's still time to buy the 2014 yearbook! Yearbooks are on sale at school and online for $85.00. Cash are check payable to CRLS Yearbook can be brought to room 2109 during lunch or after school. We're also still enrolling students in the payment plan with an initial payment of $25 or more. Students and families may also purchase their yearbook online using a debit/credit card at www.ybpay.com using school code 7873414. Please be aware that the payment plan is not available online, just in school. Advanced Placement Exams:
AP Exam registration is taking place through February 7th. The cost for each exam is $89 and less if you qualify for a fee reduction. Please see Ms. Madden regarding your eligibility for assistance. Included in the fees is a non-refundable deposit of $25. Please pay with a money order or personal check. No cash will be accepted. You can pick up a registration form in Room #2317 (Sherry Madden), from your AP Teacher, or Guidance Counselor. Questions? Contact AP Coordinator: smadden@cpsd.us or ask any AP Teacher.

Library Database Passwords for Off-Campus Access:

Many classes are currently engaged in research projects and may need password access to the CRLS library databases off-campus, especially during vacations when the school library is closed. All library passwords are listed on the "Password Information" Google Doc, which can be accessed from the library homepage as well as the library Research Databases page.  To open and view the list of passwords, students will be prompted  to log into their CPSD Google Docs account.  Thanks for reminding students of this if they need it! CSV mentors are attentive listeners, patient, caring, and skilled tutors who break down the college application process into manageable steps to reach deadlines and individual goals of students. Once students meet mentors they may schedule alternate days.
