COLLEGE PLANNING, MENTORING, APPLICATIONS & ESSAY WRITING~

What: Cambridge School Volunteer Mentors partners with CCRC
CSV mentors are attentive listeners, patient, caring, and skilled tutors who break down the college application process into manageable steps to reach deadlines and individual goals of students. Once students meet mentors they may schedule alternate days.

CRLS TRAVELS TO SPAIN:
CRLS travels to spain summer 2014 (June 18-July 9 tentative dates). Spanish students come to CRLS September '14. Travel fellowsships (scholarships) available through FOCLS. Information meeting WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 9, 6:30-7:30 PM

PSAT at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School on Wednesday October 30th:
On Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 8:00am to approximately 11:00 a.m., CRLS will be administering the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) / National Merit Qualifying Test. This exam is given once a year and we are requiring that all sophomores and juniors take the exam. There is no cost for the PSAT; the Cambridge School Department will cover the cost of the exam.
A revised schedule for the day will be decided and mailed out by the principal and leadership team soon.

Be informed: Come learn about the candidates for Cambridge School Committee at a School Committee Candidates Forum, Wednesday, October 16, 6:30-8:30 pm, Cambridge Public Library, Lecture Hall. All nine candidates will participate and answer questions about their views on the Cambridge Public Schools.

2013 FOCA WALKATION - October 6:
Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA) is holding its annual Fall fundraiser on Sunday, October 6 at 9 a.m. at Fresh Pond, near the water treatment facility. Student-athletes from all fall CRLS athletic teams are currently gathering pledges to support their teams, so please sponsor them!. Most of the money raised goes directly into the team's account, with a small portion going to FOCA to support our competitive programs at the high school such as coaches grants, end-of-season and senior awards, and athletic scholarships. MIT/WELLESLY UPWARD BOUND:
The MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound is having a Guest Visitation Day on Monday, October 7th from 3:00-6:00pm for CRLS 9th & 10th graders.

SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR CHANGE:
On September 17, 2013, at their regular meeting, the Cambridge School Committee voted to make a change in the current year's school calendar. Please note that all CPS schools will be CLOSED on Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15. School will return to session on Wednesday, October 16. An updated school calendar is posted on the CPS website.
