News From The Guidance Department:

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Happy New School Year and a big welcome to all new CRLS students and families.

Student schedules will be redistributed in Community Meeting on the first day of school.  Students seeking a schedule change must fill out a request for course change form which will be distributed in Community Meeting.  Counselors will make every effort to make revisions to the schedule if space permits and if the request meets the following course change guidelines:
*    To correct an error
*    To drop a course in a schedule gap;
*    To add a required course;
*    To balance a student's academic courses over two semesters;
*    A student is scheduled to repeat a course and has the same teacher assignment;
*    To change to a more appropriate level in a course in which you are already enrolled; or as a result of a Special Education, ELL or 504 Team decision.

Students should continue to follow the schedule given in Community Meeting until he/she receives a revised schedule.  Students with schedule gaps should report to their Learning Community during the period in which the gap exists.

Please be advised counselors are currently working to schedule new students in addition to working on schedule change requests.  In order for counselors to work efficiently on course change requests it is vital that students follow the protocol above, fill out the request for course change form completely and return the form to their community meeting teacher ASAP.  The last day to make changes to schedules is September 11, 2013.

School Council meetings are held in the Principal's Conference Room at CRLS from 6 - 7:30PM. All parents are welcome.

The State Education Reform Act mandates that there be an elected School Improvement Council in each public school made up of parents, teachers, students and community representatives, and co-chaired by the principal. The CRLS School Council usually meets on the last Tuesday of the month and is responsible for advising the principal in setting educational goals, identifying educational needs, reviewing the school's budget, and creating a school improvement plan. Parents/guardians serve staggered 2-year terms so that some are always new and some experienced. Elections are well publicized each spring, and interested candidates must submit a nomination form in order for their names to be included on the ballot.
