Tough times: Parenting teens who take risks-April 3, 2013 at 6PM in the Cafeteria Adolescent risk taking can be both positive and dangerous. Some adolescent risk behaviors are healthy and help teens grow by allowing them to try new things and test their abilities. However, other risk behaviors cause concern. In this session, parents will be able to understand the differences between risk taking behavior and high risk behavior. Also, parent-adolescent communication will be highlighted and how it can positively influence how teens make high risk choices.
Parking available in the Ellery Street garage. Food will be served. For more information or to register email Greta Hardina the CRLS Family Liaison at ghardina@cpsd.us or call 617-349-6660 |
Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund - 3 Mile Walk /City Run - Sunday April 7, 2013, 10:00 a.m.
In 2005, the~Harvey~family and the communities of Cambridge and Boston had a precious daughter stolen through unspeakable violence. ~Twenty-eight year old~Andrea~was a true Renaissance Woman--a beloved daughter, respected teacher, devoted explorer, accomplished musician & artist, gourmet cook, avid traveler, loving sister, niece & granddaughter, and kind friend. ~While~Andrea's life was taken from her and us, we will never forget the joy and wonder she brought to so many others' lives.
Once a year, families/students comes together to participate in a city-run/walk & fundraiser in~Andrea~Harvey's~memory. ~It is just one opportunity among many to join together in a positive action in the struggle to protect women from violence. ~
The 2013 City Run/Walk will be on Sunday April 7, 2013. We will meet for the Run/Walk at the Russell Youth Center, 680 Huron Ave at 8:45 - 10 a.m. The race begins at 10:30 AM. A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund (AHMF), which gives scholarships to needy high school seniors entering college. This year we will provide 2 $1000.00 scholarships to seniors from Cambridge Rindge and Latin (where Andrea was a student), and 2 $1000.00 scholarships to seniors at East Boston High School (where Andrea was a math teacher). We will also give a $2000.00 to a merited college bound Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School student in memory of Les Kimbrough (CRLS teacher/dean) who devoted so much of his efforts in promoting and supporting the Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund. The AHMF also supports domestic violence prevention programs. You can support the AHMF by registering for the race.
