Let's talk: Communicating with Teens- March 12, 2013  at 6PM in the Cafeteria

Communication is essential to maintain a close and healthy relationship between teens and their parents, and offers parents the ability to influence the choices and decisions teens make as their independence increases. In this session, parents will learn how the new skills teens are developing can increase the quality of conversations between parent and child and how to manage the challenges. In addition, parents will explore parenting styles to determine what practices best support a teen's growing independence.  Facilitated by Families First Parenting Programs.

Parking available in the Ellery Street garage. Food will be served. For more information or to register email Greta Hardina the CRLS Family Liaison at ghardina@cpsd.us or call 617-349-6660

CRLS 2nd Semester Parent Teacher Conferences:

In an effort to improve the Parent-Teacher Conferences and to save time for both parents and staff, CRLS has implemented an online Parent-Teacher Conference pre-registration.

We are also happy to inform you that we have added extra hours to make sure that all families have the opportunity to meet with teachers. There will be added afternoon and morning conferences. In order to implement the extra hours, we will have an early release and a delayed opening for students. The schedule is as follows.

*Tuesday, March 26 from 12:20 - 3:30 PM (Online pre-registration only, students will be released at 11:08AM)

*Wednesday, March 27 from 6-8 PM (No pre-registration. Walk-in only)

*Thursday, March 28 from 8:10-11:10 AM (Online pre-registration only, There will be a delayed opening. Students with lunch B report to block 3 at 11:25AM, Lunch A starts at 11:12AM)

http://crls.cpsd.us/aboutcrls/parent_conferences

Pre-registration will open to families on the CRLS website on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 8AM. Logging on before this time will not work!

With the online registration service, parents/guardians can:

*Register for conferences 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the registration period.
*In two simple steps, schedule a conference by choosing an available conference time slot.
*View, print, and email their conference schedule.
*Return at any time to reschedule a conference.
* We still encourage parents to email teachers throughout the semester as needed, and to visit Edline for 24 hour access to their child's progress as an alternative to the limitations of Parent-Teacher Conferences.

*If you do not have access to a computer please call Greta Hardina the CRLS Family Liaison at 617.349.6660 or stop in at one of the 7 Cambridge Public Libraries for free internet and computer use.

Seeking Parent Mentors:

Are you a parent with time to give back to the CRLS community? Are you looking for a way to be more involved at CRLS? Do you feel like you know the ins and outs of CRLS and can share this with another family? Do you speak a second language (not required but helpful) and value the diversity of CRLS? If so, we need you!
The Office of the Family Liaison in partnership with the Bilingual and English Language Acquisition Program is recruiting Parent Mentors to be matched with immigrant families. Mentors will serve as a support person and will help share their experience and knowledge of CRLS. If you are interested please contact Greta Hardina, CRLS Family Liaison at ghardina@cpsd.us or 617-349-6660.
