National Honor Society News:
Invitations to apply for membership in the National Honor Society are being mailed out to juniors who have a current official GPA of 87 or greater. The invitation includes important information about the application process, including steps that students can get started on immediately.
As noted in the invitation, there will be a mandatory informational meeting on Tuesday February 26th after school in the Media Cafeteria for all eligible students interested in applying. The application packet will be distributed at that meeting. The application packet will enable the Faculty Council to carefully consider each student's candidacy in relationship to the four pillars of the National Honor Society, which are Scholarship, Character, Service, and Leadership. The completed application packets, including all supporting documentation will be due by Thursday March 7, 2013, and any applications submitted after that date will not be considered.
If a student did not receive an invitation, but believe they meet the GPA criteria, he or she can check with Mr. Mili.

Let's talk: Communicating with Teens- March 12, 2013 at 6PM in the Cafeteria
Communication is essential to maintain a close and healthy relationship between teens and their parents, and offers parents the ability to influence the choices and decisions teens make as their independence increases. In this session, parents will learn how the new skills teens are developing can increase the quality of conversations between parent and child and how to manage the challenges. In addition, parents will explore parenting styles to determine what practices best support a teen's growing independence. Facilitated by Families First Parenting Programs.
Parking available in the Ellery Street garage. Food will be served. For more information or to register email Greta Hardina the CRLS Family Liaison at ghardina@cpsd.us or call 617-349-6660

AP and College Entrance Test Prep Help: Free!
Did you know that the Pearl K. Wise Library at CRLS subscribes to a service that allows students to take timed AP, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and TOEFL tests? The service also provides full text of test-prep books online. All of this material is from Peterson's, one of the best publishers of test prep materials. All of these resources are available from the library homepage: http://crls.cpsd.us/library/library Just go to "Quick Links" and click on "SAT and AP Practice Tests". Students have to make an account while in school, but then can then take the tests wherever they have internet access. Help your kids get a preview of these tests and do their best! Questions? Feel free to call the library at 617-349-6781 and speak to Holly Samuels or Alice Chen.
