Spring time in the Flathead Valley is officially here. Warm weather has the snow pack moving up the mountainsides, and the entire valley is growing green.

 

The Montana Spartan Sprint in Bigfork last Saturday provided entertainment for the crowds as they watched over 4,300 participants endure 5 miles of mud and obstacles on their way to the finish line. The nationally sanctioned event brought participants in from all over the western United States.

 

Golf Courses are open with good reports in regards to conditions and early season player numbers. Each year the golf industry brings a tremendous amount of visitors to our area.

 

Jim Kelly's Real Estate Market Trends show the number of transactions nearing 2007 levels. Bank owned and short sales combine for 29% of the sales. Listing inventory numbers are also similar to 2007 with 1,481 residential listings in the Northwest Montana Association of Realtors MLS. Bank owned and short sales account for only 8% of the listing inventory. This number is down dramatically from over 4,000 just a few years ago.

 

Land sales are substantially higher in number of transactions from 2012; however, there is a 4 year supply of inventory in the overall market.

 

The latest numbers reflect that the Flathead Valley market is showing strong signs of recovery overall. Within the larger market there remain certain areas that are underperforming relative to the general market.
