Shannon Forest Excels at SCISA Music Festival
Shannon Forest recently attended the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) Music Festival and brought home FANTASTIC results!

 


Senior Class Heads to Costa Rica
A group of 22 members of our senior class and 4 chaperones will be ministering to the people of Costa Rica from Wednesday, March 16, through Thursday, March 24. The group will be working in two locations: 
La Cuenca and Cot.


Saturday is the Upstate SC National College Fair!
Over 130 colleges and universities will be represented at the Upstate South Carolina College Fair this Saturday, March 19.  The fair is free to all parents and students and will be held at the TD Convention Center from 
1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Pre-registration gives all students a barcode (either a hard copy or on your device) to bring with you to the fair!  Each college will have a scanner and can collect all of your information electronically. Get Your Seussical, Jr. Tickets Now!
You won't want to miss Shannon's finger-snapping, toe-tapping production of Seussical, Jr.!  All of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all of the Whos of Whoville will come to life on stage.

Seussical, Jr. Character Breakfast Planned
Save the date to have breakfast with the characters from Shannon's 
Seussical, Jr.!  On Monday, April 25, the entire family can enjoy a pancake breakfast and the antics of the Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, Thing 2 and more of the cast from our spring musical.

Financial Aid Application Deadline Approaching!
Financial Aid applications for the 2016-2017 school year are now being accepted. Applications for students (new or returning) must be submitted by Friday, April 1, 2016 to be considered.  To apply, log in to RenWeb and click Family Information/Go to FACTS to start the process.
A current student must be re-enrolled to be considered for financial aid.
A new student must be accepted and have submitted the enrollment fee to be considered for financial aid.

 
Crusader of the Week
Meet Crusader of the Week Edward Long.  He has attended Shannon Forest Christian School since PK3 and is currently in Mrs. Jagoe's 1st Grade class. "I love music class," says Edward.  "My favorite song to sing is Moving Me!"  Edward loves sports and being outside.  He plays basketball, baseball and swims.  On the weekends, he loves to play outside with his golden retriever Holly.  All of Edward's friends would describe him as "silly" because he likes to tell jokes.  Check back next week to meet another student from 
Shannon Forest Christian School.

MIDDLE/UPPER SCHOOL NEWS

Senior Awarded Presidential Scholarship
Class of 2016 student Mary Grace Williams has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship to Sweet Briar College, where she will attend in the fall. 



Congratulations to seniors Lauren Alsborg and Delayne Nickles on meeting the criteria for the South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Early Award! 



Juniors PURSUE Next Steps
The junior class spent the day in Charleston, South Carolina earlier this week visiting and learning more about the College of Charleston and The Citadel. 
The trip was the final leg of the PURSUE Program, part of the Shannon Experience. This year, juniors have had the opportunity to visit eight colleges and universities across the state to help them determine 
their "best fit" school.


March Madness hit the Class of 2016! Seniors battled it out in a NCAA Tournament bracket contest and enjoyed a Mexican lunch on Tuesday.

Sophomores Noah Horton and Noah Weaver were caught hard at work on their project for our recent International Week featuring French-speaking countries.

LOWER SCHOOL NEWS

Tradition Continues with the 3rd Grade South Carolina History Program
Students in the 3rd Grade classes of Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Spurgeon will present the musical South Carolina On My Mind, on Thursday, March 17.  The production highlights the history of South Carolina and begins at
7:00 p.m. in the East Campus Sanctuary.

Deadline For Spring Break FlexTime is Monday!
FlexTime will be available during Shannon Forest's Spring Break from Monday, March 28 - Friday, April 1, for students in Shannon Beginnings age 3 - 5th Grade. You must pre-register by Monday, March 21, to participate. 
 


Our East Campus celebrated our global community with an International Fair held last Friday.  Students dressed in costumes, tasted native food, viewed cultural exhibits, and learned the different customs and dances from countries all over the world.
 


Shannon Forest Shannon Beginnings age 4 students recently made "Oobleck" for one of their popular Dr. Seuss days.  Tearanie Chancellor, Lily Elliott, AJ Dukes, and Julia Staetter show off their gooey hands!

Our winter Crusader athletes were honored in a special awards presentation on Tuesday, March 8.  Congratulations to all of our athletes and a special shout out to our award winners!


FINE ARTS NEWS
Junior Music Festival Results
Students who study piano in the after school program with Mrs. Rossi Kennedy recently participated in the Junior Music Festival organized by the National Federation of Music Club. The participants played for judges and received outstanding results!  Congratulations to 1st Grade student Chase Davey for achieving Superior in his piano performance and 4th Grade student Rachel Jue for achieving Excellent in her piano performance and in music theory.
