Shannon Forest Premieres All School International Week!
Shannon Forest will celebrate the growing global community of both our school and our city with an all school International Week!  From Monday, March 7 - Friday, March 11, our campus will be alive with sights, sounds and tastes from all over the world!



Senior Acceptances Continue! 
The Class of 2016 list of college acceptances continues to grow to include Ball State University, Columbia College, Covenant College, Gardner Webb University, Hampden-Sydney College, Hollins University, Indiana University East, Lees-McRae College, Presbyterian College and more to come!

ALL SCHOOL NEWS

Shannon Forest choir students just got back from a spectacular Disney Sings Workshop adventure and can't wait to premiere their final product!  There will be showing of the DVD this Thursday, February 18, at 5:30 p.m. before the Seussical, Jr. rehearsal in the West Campus Choir Room.  The DVD is about ten minutes long.
 

Open Enrollment Begins March 1!
Secure your student's 2016-2017 school year spot in Kindergarten - 12th Grade through Shannon Forest's easy online re-enrollment process.  If you have questions as to whether you have successfully completed the online process, please contact Joanne Heiser at [email protected].
 
Re-enrollment rates (per student) are as follows:
Monday, February 1 - Monday, February 29 - $310
March 1 - Open Enrollment begins. Regular enrollment fees apply - $450 for each student.
 
 
Financial Aid Information
Financial Aid applications are now being accepted.  A student must be re-enrolled in order for a family to apply for financial aid.  Just log in to RenWeb and go to Family Information/Go to FACTS to start your application for 2016-2017 Financial Aid.

Purchase Your Yearbook Today!
Shannon Forest 2015-2016 yearbooks are currently on sale for $69.  The last day to guarantee receipt of a book is Friday, February 26.  After this date the price increases to $73 and books are only available on a first come, first serve basis.  You may also purchase a yearbook online until Friday, April 29.  Simply go to www.jostens.com and enter Shannon Forest Christian School.

ATHLETICS NEWS

Congratulations to Varsity fall athletes Luke Horne, Lauren Bowers and Matthew Mendelsohn. Lauren made the SCISA All-State team for Volleyball.  Luke and Matthew were named to the SCISA All-State Cross Country team. 


Crusaders Victoria McGovern and Randy Caldwell have been named to the Carolina Middle School Conference (CMSC) All-Conference Basketball Team!


PLUS...our Middle School Girls' Basketball team took 3rd Place in the CMSC Tournament, defeating Mitchell Road by a score of 26-17. Leading scorers were Megan Rice-Weber and Vicki McGovern with 10 points each.


AND...Junior Lily Reid has been named to the Varsity Women's Basketball SCISA2-A All-Region Team!

Our winter Crusader athletes will be honored on Tuesday, March 8, at 
6:00 p.m. in the East Campus Sanctuary.  


MIDDLE/UPPER SCHOOL NEWS
SFCS Sophomores to EXPLORE Innovative Work Environments
Current Shannon Forest sophomores will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina from Sunday, February 28 - Tuesday March 1, to visit multiple innovative work environments that break down the barriers of the traditional office setting.


Save the Date for the Upstate SC National College Fair!
Over 100 colleges and universities will be represented at the upcoming Upstate South Carolina College Fair.  The fair is free to all parents and students.  All sophomores and juniors are strongly encouraged to attend on Saturday, March 19, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the TD Convention Center.


Mock Debate Scheduled
In honor of the South Carolina primary this Saturday, a group of 8th Grade students have put together a mock debate for extra credit.  The debate will feature five candidates:  Bri Weirick as Hillary Clinton, Jack Cummings as Bernie Sanders, Jake Goin as Marco Rubio, Luke Alsborg as Ted Cruz and Mary Elise Clement will portray Donald Trump.  The debate will be held in the West Campus Cafeteria on Friday, February 19, from 9:07 - 9:54 a.m.

92 Days And Counting!
Seniors recently enjoyed a treat-filled break with cupcakes, chocolate-covered pretzels, fresh fruit, water and hot chocolate made available by the Seniors Are Special Committee.  The next event will be a Mexican lunch on campus in mid- March.  Seniors, watch for a date to be posted soon!

Join us for the 2016 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Kick-Off!  9th - 12th Grade students will meet at the Pelham Road Chick-fil-A on Thursday, February 18, from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m.  For more information,

Tickets On Sale Now!
Juniors and seniors...purchase your tickets now for Prom 2016.   The event will be on Saturday, April 23.  Tickets are $20 in advance from Mrs. Blair or $25 at the door.

LOWER SCHOOL NEWS

Our 4th Grade students took a trip to the Roper Mountain Science Center to participate in two workshops - "Superhero Science - Light Saves The Day!"
and "Arcs and Sparks!"  The added bonus of the day was seeing Mr. Riddle during their visit.

Lower School Students to Participate in Spelling Bee
Shannon Forest will be sending twenty Lower School students to compete in this year's ACSI Spelling Bee.  The bee will be held on Friday, March 4, at North Asheville Christian School.

 
SHOUT OUTS for Shoes!
Shannon Today will be selling SHOUT OUTS from Wednesday, February 17 - Friday, February 19, in the East Campus Multi-purpose Room during lunchtime.  The messages will be aired on the show beginning Wednesday, February 24.  Students can pay $2 to do a SHOUT OUT themselves or pay $1 to have the Shannon Today crew do the SHOUT OUT for them.  All money raised will go to benefit our schoolwide mission project called SOLE HOPE.  If you have any questions, please contact Julie Sellars at [email protected].  Thank you for supporting Sole Hope!  

Winter Program Celebrates Creation
Students in Shannon Beginnings and Transitional Kindergarten will present a special musical program called "Creation of the World" at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3.  The program will be held in the East Campus Sanctuary.
