Shannon Forest Recommended for SACS Accreditation

The Southern Association of Christian Schools (SACS) External Review Team has recommended Shannon Forest Christian School for full accreditation through 2020.  In their recommendation, the team wrote this about our school... "The school implements a robust, multi-pronged, and effective family-engagement plan in terms of the design, implementation, and evaluation of the children's education."  Congratulations to all faculty and staff who work tirelessly to make Shannon Forest a great community!

The SACS team put together a video of their Shannon Experience while on our campus.

Jack Cummings to Present at
Greenville Event

Shannon Forest's Jack Cummings has been selected to speak at the upcoming 10-4 Good City event on Monday, March 30.  10-4 Good City is partnering with iMAGINE Upstate to spotlight five students who are working on a creative project that has potential for impact in our community and beyond.  Local influencers, thought leaders and change makers will bring a dish to share and a donation to add to the pot for the evening's event.  Each student will have five minutes to pitch their project, followed by a brief Q & A to explore how community support could help move the effort forward. The audience will vote on their favorite project, which will take home a donation to support the effort.  Jack will be highlighting the past two Silva-mester Middle School Design Challenges in which he participated and seek support in the form of a year-round work space for SFCSxDesign and expertise partners to assist with future challenges.

Seniors and Chaperones to Minister in Costa Rica

A group of 21members of our senior class and 4 chaperones will be ministering to the people of Costa Rica from Friday, March 27, through Saturday, April 4. The group will be working in two locations; La Cuenca and Cot. La Cuenca (literally "the basin") is home to approximately 800 Nicaraguan refugees - both women and children - who live in corrugated metal shacks in a "squatter village."  Our students will lead the children of the community in both worship and games, as well as participate in work projects to help the families of La Cuenca. Cot is a very small mountain village where our students will work alongside a local High School program concentrating on developing success among their students.  The group will also visit a sugar cane plantation, tour a volcano, and zip line through the rainforest before heading for home.
