Thank you to all our parents who participated in the dress code survey last May.  Your feedback is greatly appreciated!   After a careful and thoughtful review of the survey and the additional feedback received from parents, faculty, students and School Board members, the decision has been made to continue with the dress code that was implemented last May, with a few minor revisions.   Please take a moment to review the dress code for the 2014-15 school year at the link below:

NEW FACULTY NEWS

SFCS Welcomes New Upper School Faculty & Staff!

Mr. Nate Muse will serve as our new School Chaplain.  We are excited to welcome Mr. Muse, who previously worked for several years with Mt. Zion Christian Fellowship where he was the Student Pastor and Worship Pastor.   He is currently serving in the same capacity at Freedom Church.  Mr. Muse graduated from Furman University with a B.A. in Communication Studies.  He worked closely with the Basketball program while an undergrad, so he will be well versed in working with student athletes.  Mr. Muse has a love for the Lord and a desire to share that with the students of SFCS through the chapel program and building relationships.

Miss Brooke Johnson joins SFCS as the Upper School Art teacher.  A native of Greenville and recent graduate of Anderson University with a degree in Art Education, Miss Johnson enjoys sailing, hiking, and swing dancing.  Her love of art and her creative nature will be evident as she brings that passion to the classroom.  Miss Johnson will also serve as the Yearbook Advisor.

Rob and Cindy McGrath are the newest married couple to join our Upper School faculty. Our school's mission and vision was so compelling to the McGraths that they are relocating from Boca Raton, Florida to Greenville and will both be serving our Upper School students.

Mr. Rob McGrath will be joining us as the Upper School Computer teacher.  He comes to us from a church in Boca Raton where he served as the Technology Director and also as Youth Pastor for Middle and High School students.  In addition to classroom instruction, his role at SFCS will include day-to-day IT support as well as technology training and professional development for faculty.  Mr. McGrath received a degree in History from Florida Atlantic University and has spent time as an Apple Technology specialist, working in Customer Support at an Apple Store.

Mrs. Cindy McGrath will join our school as a Middle School History and English Teacher. She holds a B.A. from Palm Beach Atlantic University and brings experience in teaching both History and English. Mrs. McGrath was on staff at an IB School, Boca Prep International where she held an IB Category 2 Certification.  Her passion for teaching and her dynamic classroom presence helped her earn Florida's Department of Education and Juvenile Justice Teacher of the Year Award.

Miss Donna Bixby will be teaching French to both the Middle and High School students.  Miss Bixby grew up in a missionary family in Africa and France and brings more than 16 years of teaching experience both in the states and in Germany.   She spent 5 years teaching in a Language Immersion Program at a local public school.  She most recently taught for Michelin in their Language Lab as part of their relocation services for adults.  Miss Bixby enjoys traveling, reading, running and going to Starbucks!

Stay tuned next week when we introduce the newest members of our Lower School Faculty!
