Holiday Photos

Taking 10 days off during the holidays meant actually having a chance to take photos for my pleasure.  So below are some of favorites. I am not a wildlife photographer but hey when you live in Montana you just can help yourself from taking photos of wildlife.

The Wedding:Correction: The  Shannon and Scott Tucker wedding I am photographing in July  will be at the ELK HORN RANCH, not the elk horn lodge.

Eagle Eye:

As we were driving south on 473 my son spotted  a bald eagle perched on a dead tree. I pulled over and took a couple of photos. The eagle could care less about me as it searched for its next meal.

On the way to Chief Joseph Nordic Trailhead we came across a heard of Rocky Mountain Long Horn Sheep.

 Dear Readers,

This newsletter was suppose to go out in January. Sadly, my wife's mother, Ann, passed away on the 14th  of January, at the age of 90. Needless to say everything was put on hold.  Time to reflect, I will miss her wit, humor and general kindness.
Ann Siegrist 1914-2014

It has been two weeks and I feel I am getting back to my groove.
Since I last wrote, in November, much has happened. December began with the disk corruption of my external hard drive. Fortunately, nothing was lost although I have been migrating images  the last 4 weeks to organize my 80K plus images back to order. On a happy not I had a family vacation, a whole 10 days!!! first in 7 years . We traveled south to our cabin and went on hikes, Nordic skiing , soaked in hot  springs and basically got away and off the grid. Yeh!!!!

Geoff filming with The Ghost

I have partnered with the film maker, musician, code writer, Geoff Pepos on several projects. Our first film shooting project was for the Missoula OULA. It was a blast!!!! I was a bit jealous since Geoff got to use " The Ghost" while shooting. In brief the Ghost is an innovative piece of equipment that literally takes the place of the  Stedicam. It was created by a local film guy in Missoula, Jesse Spaulding.

We are also working on project for the founder of  Wholehearted Kids, Cyndi Elliot. and addition we will be introducing StoryClock to the public later this month.

In addition, I have been applying my digital retouching magic to complete a photo assignment for the law firm I began in November.

This weekend I will be gearing up to photograph the Neesha Catalog. The models have been cast, times set and the camera is ready. One of the models is Kadie Latimer, Ms Montana 2014.

Much to be grateful for: Warm House, Good Health and Friends

Reflections on the Newsletter:
Your input counts.

I am  debating whether to continue these newsletters .  My goal was to create connections and update clients and friends of my professional life. I have met part of this goal but have not made as many connections as I would have hoped. In the next month I will determine whether it is better to just blog about my creative professional life or continue with this newsletter update.  It may be a good thing to end on #50.

If you have any thoughts, opinions now is the time to chime in ..

I-Phone Pick of the month :

Sunrise in Missoula
Sunset in Missoula

The above image got the most votes  in the cold month of December. It was taken from a parking lot as I was dropping off my son to an appointment. The morning sunrise was just as spectacular which you can see on my Facebook page.

Bunny Trouble
Bunny Trouble

The above image came in second. I saw this poor bunny stuck in the fence. Some cruel joke by teenagers I suspect. No need to worry I called the Humane Society and they rescued the bunny from sure frostbite and was able to find a home. Only in Missoula.
