Ahhh Sun Valley. Once a year I head down to Sun Valley to cover the
Allen & Company Conference. I can't publicly talk about the conference but trust me it pretty cool to experience. My job, at the conference, is too take high quality photos for 4 intense days with no second chances. The payoff is working an amazing staff of people and meeting some pretty amazing folks.
One of my favorite parts about this job is the commute, about 6 hours. I head south on HW 93 and continue till I turn right onto
Trail Creek pass and head south 80 miles to Sun Valley. It is primarily a dirt and gravel road winding through the Sawtooth National Forest. The pass is closed about 10 months out the the year due to impossible driving conditions.

Trail Creek / Mt. Baldy
|
As I drove up the pass to the Trail Creek summit, about 5000 feet, I start heading down to
a two lane, sometimes one lane, road watching for rock slides and washouts to avoid going over the edge and plummeting to my death. I know it's safe when I see Sun Valley's famous Mt. Baldy.
At that point I drive into a very pleasant valley and into Sun Valley. Once in town I check in with my supervisor to get my schedule and let the fun begin.
The drive back is even more beautiful since I can take my time and take photos of the wild flowers, small towns and wild life. A great way to decompress from and intense 4 days.

Wild Life in Trail Creek ( not so wild)

Back in Missoula the rest of July was catching up with office work and getting ready to shoot my next wedding near
Arlee Montana in the heart of the
Mission Mountains. Once again if you find yourself in Missoula on the 15th, 16th or 17th of August come to the
Fringe Festival. Yours truly, will be performing Friday night in the lower level of the
Parking Garage at 8PM with a visual component created specifically for the show by the famous film maker
Geoffrey Pepos and creator of the
BigBlueDumpter that is also part of the Fringe this summer.
