Current Assignments: I had just finished the Neesha shoot and submitted photos of the models we had used in the catalog. The client came back and picked Jessica, one of my faves.
The photo session needed to completed within two weeks, and I was leaving the following week...so we set up the shoot two days after the call. Jessica came with her great smile and personality. We went to work and within a couple of hours we had the shots. The client picked three of the images below that will become billboards around Missoula. I decided to merge the three images of Jessica into one, for the fun of it.

When I came back from my trip from Sun Valley, I scheduled the architectural shoot for Dan Hisel Architecture. My assignment was to photograph the "Fencade" of Home ReSource in Missoula. Of course the weather had turned for the worse and the forecast for the next week was rain, snow and cold temperature. Looking into the long range forecast I saw a slim window of sunshine that Thursday. I set out that morning, with the appropriate wardrobe, hat, scarf, raincoat, gloves and went to work. My luck was with me that morning, although the sun was behind the clouds, there was a bit of blue sky behind the Fencade. It was gone for the rest of the day, although the sun came out for about 5 minutes during my 7 hours of shooting. In truth, it was a perfect day for the shoot, cloudy, windy and very moody, which, after speaking to Dan, turned out to be perfect lighting conditions for the shoot.

Farewell to a great comic, artist and innovator. I had the great pleasure to spend the day with Jonathan Winters and his son at their home in L. A. when I was working on my book Fathers and Sons . I found him to be warm, gracious and of course very funny. Great link about Mr. Winters by the comic Robin Williams:

Dear Readers,
I refer to April in Missoula, as the temperamental weather month. As they say in the Northwest, " if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes."
For Example; I was doing an outdoor architectural shoot for a client and experienced freezing temperatures, snow, hail. Then the clouds parted, the temperature climbed, then it started raining, snowing and back to freezing temperatures. Ended up getting some great shots.
In addition to the architectural shoot, I also did some more work for Blackfoot, created some beauty shots for a new client, and fit in a family trip to Sun Valley.
Coming later this month are a couple of engagement sessions and a family session.
For all those photographers reading this newsletter, you may be little envious that I got to play with the new Canon 5D III for a week. Thank you Canon for letting me try it out. I went to my son's Taekwondo class and tested the camera. Below is one the images I shot, all natural light. So after using this camera for a week I have decided to take up a collection so I can buy one someday....anyone interested :) I will barter for prints :)
