MONEY MATTERS
Our treasurer Debra Langlois recently informed vestry that she will be retiring. She will continue with the position until the next annual meeting, when a new treasurer is installed. Deb has done a wonderful job in this position, and we cannot thank her enough for the time and energy she has given to Grace Church.

In light of this development, we are now looking to fill the treasurer's position. It is important to do soon because there is a learning curve. If you like working with numbers, and if you feel that God may be calling you to this ministry, please speak with Lyle or me, or with any member of vestry.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE
Alisa and her committee continue to do an amazing job setting up for special events (and the post-event breaking down).   Recent examples of this are the May Confirmation celebration;  and our "Welcome Back " Cookout - but we can always use an extra pair of hands!
Please let Alisa or Sherry know if you would like to be part of this group.

What is Creation Care Sunday?
October 4th, 2015
As many of you know, we will be celebrating Creation Care Sunday on October 4th. Bishop Bud Cederholm and other prominent religious leaders in New England have invited us all to join in proclaiming October 4, 2015 (Feast Day of St. Francis) to February 7, 2016 (the last Sunday of Epiphany) A Season of Prophetic Climate Witness through preaching, prayer and practice.
We will initiate our journey through this season on Sunday October 4th, and hope to continue our discussions and prayers as a parish for the ensuing 5 months.  We will be joining with many other faiths in this process.  Pope Francis has written a very powerful encyclical regarding our roles as Christians on care for our common home.  His opening sentences clearly state the problem that we face:

"Praise be to you, my Lord". In the words of this beautiful canticle, Saint Francis of Assisi reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us. "Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs" This sister now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on her by our irresponsible use and abuse of the goods with which God has endowed her. We have come to see ourselves as her lords and masters, entitled to plunder her at will.

Please note that Creation Care Sunday is not Carbon Neutral Sunday.  While you are certainly welcome (and encouraged) to walk or bike to church on October 4th, we will be using lights and other electrically powered devices on that day.

Blessing of Animals
Sunday, October 11th
A Blessing of Pets will be held on Sunday, October 11th during the 10am mass.  All pets or pictures of pets are welcome.  Please have your pet leashed and/or crated for the safety of pets and people.
Music Instrument Policy
Please take note - 
Dr. Lambe has instituted a policy regarding use of the church piano and organ. Anyone who wishes to use the organ or piano must review the new policy and complete an instrument request form available in the parish office. Any questions about the policy or the form should be referred to Dr. Lambe by email at

Chili Contest...Sunday, October 18th
Bring a crockpot of chili on Sunday, October 18th to the 10am service.  The best chili - carne & veggie - will be served at this year's Autumn Gala on November 14th.

Wanted - Coffee Hour Volunteers!
If you enjoy conversation accompanied by COFFEE following Sunday service, please help us out 

by becoming a coffee hour volunteer. Questions should go to Allison Standifer at adstandifer@yahoo.com

Coffee Hour is a great opportunity for fellowship after service.  Please join us for this time of sharing and getting to know each other.  We are looking for volunteers to host a coffee hour. All that is required of you would be providing a snack and making the coffee!  Please see Allison or the sign-up sheet in the common room.  Thank you!

If you'd like flowers placed on the altar in memory of, in thanksgiving for, or in honor of a loved one, family member or friend, please notify Cyndee Williams or the parish office. A donation of $50 is what it cost us to purchase flowers from Nolan's but we can also work with a donation you are comfortable with.
