Forward to a Friend

Grace Episcopal Church kicked off this New Year with the start-up of Sunday school, Children's Chapel, a fabulous welcome-back cookout, and with a chance to bid Rev. Phillip safe travels. His plane was departing at 6 that evening! We have received word that he has arrived safe and sound, and ready to tackle the many projects he has scheduled. Thank you to G and her staff for welcoming our children back so warmly, to Wayne Janelle (children's chapel) for giving our kids yet another wonderful learning experience, to Alisa and Tom and Lyle, our burger/hotdog chefs, and to everyone who brought a dish to share. Fasten your seatbelts, this will be a great year for Grace!!

SOME WONDERFUL UPDATES ON THE RECTORY!
Parishioner Bob Dorn, who is a professional painter by trade, has volunteered to do "some prep and painting of just the front (Church side) of the rectory this fall to at least begin some of the work the building needs..." Bob is planning to begin soon and will supply... "ladders, tarps, and equipment including brushes, scrapers, etc." and "...cedar siding pieces should they be needed."
Scaffolding is being provided by Bill Carlson. The church will pay for primer, caulk and paint. Weather permitting, these are the dates he is targeting:

SEPTEMBER with Scaffold (2nd Floor): Wed. 23rd, Thurs. 24th, Fri. 25th, Sat. 26th.
OCTOBER (First Floor): Sat. 3rd, Fri. 16th, Sat. 17th and Mon. 19th (if needed)

This is truly a gift from Bob, and those who pitch in to help Grace Church. To hire someone to do this job would make it cost-prohibitive!

Now we need your help. There is no money allocated in our budget for "paint and caulking". We welcome your ideas and thoughts for some fun fund-raising. This is an opportunity we cannot put off.

Mike is going to take the mini excavator over on Friday and scrape the corner bed near the driveway. We are going to lay down some landscape cloth and put some mulch down to control the weeds. We will keep you posted as things proceed.

Many were disappointed when we were not able to install Rev. Phillip and his family into the rectory by this fall. However sometimes God has other plans for us! In August, Phillip Jr. was admitted into a wonderful school that is affiliated with Boston Latin that specializes in math and science. Little Victoria is back with her friends in grade 3, and Veronica is able to continue with her nursing position. Meanwhile, the tenants who occupy the rectory have kept up their part of the agreement (see above), including being current in rent and other bills. Rev. Phillip admits that while the commute is sometimes "painful", he and his family are fine with the final outcome.

We are very thankful that God has shown us that patience can bring such positive results. If you have any questions, please talk to vestry members. As always, communication is key.

Blessing of the Backpacks
Sunday, September 20th

Kids - remember to bring your backpacks to church this weekend for a special blessing of the backpacks!

Music Instrument Policy
Please take note -
Dr. Lambe has instituted a policy regarding use of the church piano and organ. Anyone who wishes to use the organ or piano must review the new policy and complete an instrument request form available in the parish office. Any questions about the policy or the form should be referred to Dr. Lambe by email at
Robert-lambe@comcast.net. Thank you.

Prayer Chain

Recently Ginny Bliss stepped down as coordinator of the Prayer Chain and I have taken over that position.  As always, if you are interested in becoming part of this group, have any questions or want to give us the name of someone who needs prayers of any kind, please let me know.  You may contact Muriel Crockett by phone at: 508-699-8685 or by email at: mewblue1@netzero.com.

Blessing of Animals
Sunday, October 11th
A Blessing of Pets will be held on Sunday, October 11th during the 10am mass.  All pets or pictures of pets are welcome.  Please have your pet leashed and/or crated for the safety of pets and people.
Wanted - Coffee Hour Volunteers!
If you enjoy conversation accompanied by COFFEE following Sunday service, please help us out
by becoming a coffee hour volunteer. Questions should go to Allison Standifer at adstandifer@yahoo.com

Coffee Hour is a great opportunity for fellowship after service.  Please join us for this time of sharing and getting to know each other.  We are looking for volunteers to host a coffee hour. All that is required of you would be providing a snack and making the coffee!  Please see Allison or the sign-up sheet in the common room.  Thank you!
ALTAR FLOWERS

If you'd like flowers placed on the altar in memory of, in thanksgiving for, or in honor of a loved one, family member or friend, please notify Cyndee Williams or the parish office. A donation of $50 is what it cost us to purchase flowers from Nolan's but we can also work with a donation you are comfortable with.
