Highmark is experiencing a delay in processing with the implementation of their new Physical Medicine policies. Claims are received and in processing. However, some finalized claims are being delayed for review. This has resulted in a delay in payments.
We have spoken to Highmark, they are aware this is happening and have advised us this is because of the new policies being implemented and they are working with Healthways to improve processes.
For the most part, this is effecting physical medicine claims but we are seeing slight delays in other specialties as well.
We are closely monitoring all claims to ensure they are received and processing. To date, we have not experienced denials for physical medicine claims due to the Healthways program. However, our approach has been proactively monitoring the situation and we will provide updates as soon as they are received.
