Good Times at the Alumni Volleyball Game
There was good volleyball, great friends and lots of fun at the annual women's alumni volleyball game, and this year the varsity team prevailed in five games.

Not able to get to the alumni game? The highlights and all the fun are here on the video above, posted to the SJND Pilots YouTube channel.
The women's volleyball team is currently 7-1 and beat their North Coast Section championship rival, University High School of San Francisco, in three games last week. Look for another return to the playoffs this year.

AP Scholars from the Class of 2012 Honored
SJND saw an increase in 2012 in the number of students who received the AP Scholar with Distinction award, the College Board's highest honor for students who scored an average grade of 3.5 or higher on multiple Advanced Placement exams they took last spring.
"It's a great accomplishment for these students," said Ms. Suzanne Edinger, AP coordinator at SJND.
Nine SJND students, compared to five last year, received an AP Scholar with Distinction Award - the highest honor - by earning an average grade of 3.5 or higher on all AP exams taken, as well as grades of at least 3 or higher on at least five or more exams.
These students, all 2012 graduates, are: Jason Baskett, Matthew Cerio, Oliver Cunningham, William Eisenman, Gemeny Givens, Amanda Khoo, Crystal Lee, Danielle McGuinness and Nick Ratto. All are graduates of the Class of 2012.
The students took the AP exams in May 2012 after completing AP courses at SJND. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on a student's performance on the AP exams, and the students earn college credit for the courses. Sixteen SJND students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with a grade of 3 or higher on a 5-point scale. They are: Nnola Amuzie, Eric Baskett, Crystal Carrillo, Clara Castillo, Kelsea Flores, Rebecca Gonzalez, Demitri Guiton, Regina Hurley, Jaelin McCreary, Christopher Owens, Leigh Pond, Nikki Roco, Alvin So, Erewa Uku, Carmela Valderrama and Shane Vance. Seven SJND students were named AP Scholars with Honor by earning an average grade of 3.5 on all AP exams while earning a score of 3 or higher on at least four AP exams. They are: Fernando Barragan, Haialani Enos, Kate Lassalle-Klein, Ray Levy, Gwen Macewan, Jeanette Mei and Paul Ruiz-Rothhammer.

Join the Pilot Booster Club and Support Athletics
With the new school year, alumni are invited to join the Booster Club, which this year is supporting free admittance for all SJND students to home basketball and volleyball games.
The Boosters also have supported students and athletes at the school by purchasing new vans for teams to travel in to away games, providing special SJND canopies for outdoor events, hosting alumni sporting events and hospitality nights, and providing buses for students and fans to attend state championships for basketball and cross country.
The Booster Club also hosts the annual Spaghetti Feed, which is Nov. 3 in Kelly Gym. Booster Club membership form
Be part of Pilot pride! Thank you for supporting our athletic program at SJND.
