Successful Annual State Survey
Our annual Department of Public Health State Survey was completed on February 14, 2013. We had a total of five surveyors in the facility; this team was here from Thursday, February 6th until Thursday, February 14th (they were here for four days, but were interrupted by two days for the snow storm and one holiday). They reviewed 70 resident charts, interviewed 36 residents, many of the staff who care for them, and some families. They also completed a physical plant survey and conducted a review of one reportable event.
We anticipate receiving the official reports within the week. Once we have received the official reports, they will be placed in the following locations: outside the Craft Room on the second floor and outside the Dining Services office on the first floor. We will work to correct all findings and be ready for the follow-up survey to ensure compliance.

The McLean Auxiliary Gift Shop is stocked with Easter gifts for the young and the old and candy galore! Select a cheerful scarf to make any outfit perfect for spring, or choose from soft or ceramic bunnies and rabbits for your windowsill or to include in an Easter basket. Also offered are Easter cards, miniature water globes, Easter egg flower arrangements, banners to hang on your loved one's door at McLean, and Easter placemats that would be perfect on your holiday table. The selection changes almost daily. The Auxiliary Gift Shop is located off of the main lobby. It is open seven days a week 10 AM - 4 PM, and is open to the public. The shop is run and staffed solely by volunteers. All proceeds benefit the residents of McLean and sales are tax-free.

Free Caregiver Activity Workshop
for
Persons Caring for Individuals with Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease
Creative Activity
(No artistic skill is required to participate, all supplies will be provided free of charge)

This workshop is part of a study conducted by a student in the Master of Arts in Art Therapy program at Albertus Magnus College. Kim completed a seven month internship, working with residents at McLean. This workshop is a continuation of her studies. Additional information will be provided at the workshop, or you may inquire when you register.

"Keeping Connected in the Unconnected World of Alzheimer's"

You may also go to the news section of the website for visiting guidelines, should we need to limit visits due to another community illness outbreak, or for any other important news, such as road closures on campus. These notices will not be on the home page of the website, but rather they will be posted in the website e-news section. They will also appear on The New McLean Facebook page.
