to MOTHERS and MOTHERS-to-BE,
Whether you are eagerly waiting to become a mother, or this is your first Mother's Day, or you've celebrated this day many times before....Happy Mother's Day! Wow, this holiday comes with such responsibilities. I love watching your baby grow! Some of you email or mail me photos. Some of you stay in touch with me on Facebook. I watch in amazement all that you Mothers do!
They start off so little, don't they? Just needing a clean diaper, some love, a little hug, protection, and nutrition. You learn how to care for this little person. You learn what every little noise and movement means. One little cry and the whole world stops. That first little person turned your whole life and the whole house upside down. Didn't he/she? Your responsibilities as a Mother are about to grow.
That little person will get bigger. And, with a bigger child comes bigger lessons, no? Some of you help your children learn. Some of you learn from your children. I bet there are fun times and challenges as you teach them to become an independent little people! You teach them about dance lessons, skiing, karate, cheer, how to play nice with other children as well as the household pets, the importance of eating broccoli, and so much more! They go to school; you go to school all over again. They hate math; you remember hating math too! Your responsibilities as a Mother seem to multiply!
Some of them get even bigger. They even look like little adults! They get boyfriends. They get girlfriends. They learn how to drive. Some of your "babies" just went to the prom, graduated high school, got married, or had a baby of their own! And your responsibilities as a Mother never end!
Motherhood seems to be a forever job! Sometimes, I hear/read you complain. You growl. You're tired. You work too much. You tend to your home. You care for everyone. You're the tutor, nurse, plumber, chef, chauffeur, maid, vet, nanny, and therapist (i've probably missed 100 other roles). You have minimal time for yourself. And yet, you wake up in the morning and do it all again!
You are amazing women....you women called Mothers!
Thus, I wish you the absolute best day ever!
