It's All in the Apps

Just a reminder that the application is where we get the information to quote risks, whether we underwrite the risk in house or send it to carriers. That's why it is so important that applications are complete and accurate.

The quotes we provide are only as accurate as the information on the apps and supporting documentation.

We know you and your clients are busy people so we only ask for information that we truly need. Accuracy is very important to us, as we know it is to you, so we appreciate your help in sending in complete information.

Did You Know...
...that giraffes can live up to 25 years in the wild? Female giraffes give birth standing up so their babies fall more than five feet to the ground when born. That doesn't slow them down; they can stand half an hour later and run with Mom in 10 hours.

...that 14 major rivers and 10,000 streams feed into Puget Sound (Salish Sea)? It also has 2,500 miles of shoreline.

Shake, Rattle and Roll...
Sue Brennan ...that's something that is fun to do on the dance floor but we would rather not do that during an earthquake. Since we never know when the next quake is coming, the best thing we can do is be prepared.

Countrywide Brokerage has joined millions of residents, businesses, schools, organizations and others around the globe in participating in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. The drill in the Northwest will be on Thursday, October 15th at 10:15 a.m. This is a chance to practice what to do during an earthquake (Drop, Cover and Hold On!) and discuss how to be prepared for a quake, both at work and home.

Because we provide Earthquake and Difference in Conditions (DIC) coverage, we try to keep our fingers on the pulse of the latest research. There seems to be more and more information about the potential for earthquakes in our region.

I read a good book entitled, Full-Rip 9.0 by Sandi Doughton. It's about "the next big earthquake in the Pacific Northwest." It's an interesting read that provides some historical perspective. For example, scientists found that the last "megaquake" (a magnitude 9.0 quake) in the Northwest was in 1700 and it was sixty times as powerful as the quake that destroyed San Francisco in 1906. That quake caused a large tsunami that hit Japan. The book will also likely raise your blood pressure when you read about the inevitable quake that will eventually occur here. Let's hope it's not anytime soon.

At any rate, the time seems right to talk to your clients about getting earthquake or DIC insurance for their homes and businesses. Read on to learn how we can help.
